this…..On December 2, Basque athlete Iván Fernández Anaya was competing in a cross-country race in Burlada, Navarre. He was running second, some distance behind race leader Abel Mutai( - bronze medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the London Olympics). As they entered the finishing straight, he saw the Kenyan runner - the certain winner of the race - mistakenly pull up about 10 meters before the finish, thinking he had already crossed the line.
Fernández Anaya quickly caught up with him, but instead of exploiting Mutai's mistake to speed past and claim an unlikely victory, he stayed behind and, using gestures, guided the Kenyan to the line and let him cross first.

Ivan Fernandez Anaya, a Basque runner of 24 years who is considered an athlete with a big future (champion of Spain of 5,000 meters in promise category two years ago) said after the test:
"But even if they had told me that winning would have earned me a place in the Spanish team for the European championships, I wouldn't have done it either. I also think that I have earned more of a name having done what I did than if I had won. And that is very important, because today, with the way things are in all circles, in soccer, in society, in politics, where it seems anything goes, a gesture of honesty goes down well."

He said at the beginning: unfortunately, very little has been said of the gesture. And it's a shame. In my opinion, it would be nice to explain to children, so they do not think that sport is only what they see on TV: violent kicks in abundance, posh statements, fingers in the eyes of the enemy ...

There was a king who had instructed his wife (wives???)

not to take bath when he was away and

(brace yourselves for what is going to follow)

not to change their undergarments till he came back from the wars.

He needed their body stench to switch him ON.

On second thoughts...

was he trying to scare away the prospective lovers from his wives?? :scared:... :bolt:

Surely none but this nasty majesty would love stenchy smelly girls!!! :heh:...

Dear VR ji,

I remember reading about Napoleon saying something similar to Josephine..he would send a message saying "I am coming back soon in a few days time..don't bathe"

But I think some people are turned on by natural body odours known as pheromones.

So even if their lover is from Gabbustan(the land of the stinking)..they somehow still get turned on.

Dear Renu,

It was Napoleon alright.

I did not want to drag his name unnecessarily.

So it is a case of Pheromones VS perfumes???

Vikings were the extreme Gabbustan people.
Apparently they did not clean themselves even after defecating!!! :scared:

Forget brushing the teeth, washing the face or shaving off the facial hair! :)

They were a real sight with their horned helmets and flowing mustaches and beard.

Their facial expression suited perfectly their strange customs, habits and

their special edition gabbu!!!

In India we retain the first syllable and shorten the rest of the name.

In Malay more names have the tail end portions or mid portions as the nicknames by comparison!

Why is it that the replies I find in my mail box

are nowhere to be seen in the actual threads??

Does the poster himself delete it as an after thought

or is it due to the behind the screen activities by a few others???

Even perfectly harmless comments and replies just go "poof!!!"

Dear RR Ji,

I was laughing thinking of the meanings of the names...just imagine we have Tamil-Malay hybrid language..

The first word retains it's Tamil meaning and only the Mani takes the Malay meaning.

So with all the

Anbu Mani

Kan Mani

Pon Mani

Veera Mani

Thanga Mani....Ha Ha Ha...its like medical records in a sperm bank!LOL

Dear Sis,

I left one important Mani - Ramani! Appears in your name!!

I did not include Ramani in my list since it is a singlle word and not a combination of two words like Anbu+mani, or Pon+mani

Talking of Smt. Ponmani Varimuththu, she does not need any jewels since she has everything already in her name, what with nava mani the nine gems, diamond and pearls. :)
