[h=3]160 petrol, diesel outlets shut for malpractices[/h] New Delhi, July 28 (IANS) A total of 150 petrol and diesel retail outlets across the country involved in malpractices like under-measurement and adulteration of transport fuels have had their licenses terminated, parliament was told on Monday. "Oil marketing companies have terminated 160 retail outlets for such irregularities during the last three years and current year (April-June)," Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan told the Lok Sabha in a written reply. The minister said in the last three years, state-run oil marketers - Indian Oil Corp, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum - have detected under-measurement in 3,516 retail outlets and adulteration in 195 units.

[h=3]India hangs Yakub Memon for 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts[/h] By Zeba Siddiqui and Aditya Kalra MUMBAI/NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India hanged Yakub Memon on Thursday for his role in the country's deadliest bombings, which killed 257 people in Mumbai in 1993, after the Supreme Court threw out his final plea for a stay of execution. Memon was convicted as the "driving spirit" behind the serial blasts in India's financial capital Mumbai, then known as Bombay. The execution drew wide public support but has stirred controversy about whether the punishment adequately reflected the help Memon gave authorities in solving the crime.
MUMBAI: Indian Railways has modified rules on identity proof of passengers travelling on tickets issued under its Tatkal Scheme, it was officially announced here. As per modified rules, there won't be any need to mention or furnish photocopy of proof of identity, while booking a Tatkal ticket or indicate the same while booking t6ickets through the Internet, according to a statement issued by the Western Railway. Only one passenger needs to produce any one of the following proofs of identity in the original during the journey, in case a group of passengers are travelling on Tatkal tickets, according to the statement. As per the statement, documents to be furnished as identification proofs include Voter's Photo Identity Card, Passport, PAN Card, Driving Licence, Aadhar Card, Photo Identity Card with photographs with a serial number issued by central or state governments, student identity card with photograph issued by a recognised school or college, passbook of nationalised banks with a photograph, as well as credit cards issued by banks with laminated photograph.
[h=3]Sand art, candle light vigil in honour of Dr. Kalam's memory[/h] Puri/ New Delhi, July 28, (ANI): Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has paid tribute to former president APJ Abdul Kalam by creating a sand sculpture depicting the latter's visage at Puri beach. The youth of Rameshwaram, where Dr. Kalam was born, held a candle light vigil to pay homage to the former president while in Delhi, people queued up outside the late leader's residence to pay their tributes. Dr. Kalam passed away in Shillong last evening.

The gathering included social activists, students, teachers, other professionals and curious passers-by, who read out copies of his new mercy petition, chanted slogans and discussed why Memon must not be executed. Several activists said that Memon’s new mercy petition, based on the revelations by former RAW official B. Raman who argued that Memon deserved leniency for his co-operation with the Indian agency by returning to the country with his family, was submitted to the prison authorities but had not reached the President yet.

O, The Oprah Magazine recently raised hopes in an article that hinted at the existence of a pill that could help prevent grey hair. The article claimed that a number of said pills already exist on the market containing an enzyme that stops hair follicles from accumulating hydrogen peroxide – a factor in greying.
