I did know about the program, but if you try to achieve mediocre performance by levelling down that is much easier, than trying to achieve excellence.

We can not achieve uniformity, and we do not want it.
We want equal opportunity, then let the desire to grow be recognized and encouraged. The smart people will prosper. That should be guiding factor.
But in democracy the voting blocks play their part. Democracy is the best, of the worst forms of government.

We support schools in various part of India. Basic education even in Tanjore village is not available. The lone teacher collects all grants from government and enrolls students, but has one mud room building from KG to 12. You think students are learning? Corruption is rampant. I am sure some of the posters will tell me it is all Brahmins fault. This teacher was not a Brahmin and was well connected with the political party.

Dear K:

You don't like all MBBS, after scratching LMPs - How about all MDs in the US? What's happening in Canada?

As you know, MD takes 13 + 4 + 4 + at least 3 = 24 years of schooling to practice as an Internist or FP. Specialists will take another at least 3 more years!

I always wondered whether this is necessary? And my daughter who just got her MD and starting her Residency says YES!

The cost of getting a practicing MD is prohibitively very expensive! Why?

No medical board is allowed to recognize any education other than domestic, meaning US.. if you are an US graduate, you go to four year degree and four year medical school and depending on the state you do between one to three years.. take the USMLE exam and then get into the specialty, I guess, since medicine is every changing the US needs its docs to keep in touch and in Par.. some boards have grandfathering meaning, the board will allow the doctor to come for an interview and review the entire education and training done at a another country, but this privilege is strictly to UK..

by the way, I worked for the NJ medical board.. :) for 20 years..
