Rules of Impurity (Sutak)
Sir,
I have not mentioned anything about the details furnished by you. I have
only added where such details are discussed. Please do not take it otherwise.
As you know Sir, the Garuda Puranam discusses about various things, i.e.
in the form of a dialogue that took place between Lord Vishnu and Garuda.
It explains all the details about the present life and afterlife viz. Bandham and
Moksham or bondage and liberation. Besides, essential ceremonies that are
required to be performed after the death of relatives are also dealt with
besides the results of not performing or conducting such ceremonies. The days
of impurity are discussed in depth. In fact, people have to avoid taking coffee
or tea, etc when the dead body is at home, etc. The study of the Vedas and
scriptures including Pooja at home are is strictly prohibited. It also explain as to
how long does the mritakam last, etc.
