I read Manu Smriti (TRanslation)
He imposes Theetu only for safety and hygenic purposes
Thee is no fixed Theetu as we follw
But a graded one from the death bed on nearbyto a faroff place
To a relative in a far off place (across the river) the theetu in only for one night from when he gets the news
Similarly it is graded
So also for Vriddhi
