The wolves inside

Man they say is a rational animal. It is indeed very true. Inspite of being gifted with rational thinking he chooses to be an animal. People from almost all walks of life struggle to channel emotions in a constructive way which more often than not harms others.

There have been attempts throughout history by a few men who were enlightened giving prescriptions of how to rein in emotions and elevate ones thinking. The world seemed to have paid little attention.

Things have gotten worse with the the rise and preeminence of technology in people's affairs. Some superhuman like features of technology made people to move towards it. That attraction also made them uncritically embrace the uglier aspects of it . It started telling upon people's values and align them with the materialistic philosophy.

We have become infinitely more dangerous than animals because we can also think logically. There is plenty of pseudo logic going around playing mainly to people's emotions.

It is high time we figured that out and not yield to the attempts of these people with grand agenda. All i ask is don't be swayed by their outward talk. Try to probe into their intentions. You will find the wolves inside.

Dear Sravna,

Sometimes I wonder why we humans blame animals when we see injustice.
Honestly is a wolf adharmic?
No..its not.
Wolves have innate gratefulness and loyality to their Alpha wolf and this charecteristic is seen in a dog.

I know a lot of religions in fact every religions uses the word animal qualities to describe adharmic behavior in a human conveniently forgeting we ourselves evolved from single cell and through animal life forms...every animal is in us.

Animals have equal rights to be treated with respect.
If we see how carnivores hunt..its not easy for them too..the mighty Lion himself fails many times..sometimes the Lioness herself fails and the cubs go hungry.
Lions themselves get injured by the herbivours they hunt.

Poetry praises the Cuckoo for its sweet voice and looks down upon a crow.
There is a famous Sanskrit saying that goes..
The Crow is black..the Cuckoo is black.
Come spring and the crow is a crow and the cuckoo is a cuckoo.

It highlights that though both are black but in spring the Cuckoo sings beautifuly but not the Crow.
Everyone falls for the sweet voice of a Cuckoo and looks down on the raspy voice of a Crow...but how many of us are aware that a Cuckoo hijacks the nests of other birds of different species.
It lays an egg in another birds nest and the other bird thinks it is its own chick..when the cuckoo chick hatches, it usually eats more and the chicks of the other bird loses out and at least 1 chick of the other bird dies.

The crow on the other hand isnt a hijacker..it looks after its own chicks.

Strange isnt it?

Would anyone want to praise a crow and call a cuckoo a "smooth criminal"?
I dont think so.
But anyway, its the Dharma of the Cuckoo to hijack..so it wont be right for me to call a Cuckoo a smooth criminal too😁

Anyway,back to topic.
Try to think of different words in your post.
The Wolf isnt the Big Bad one.

Renuka,

Food for thought. I do agree. Doing criminality smoothly is also not to be endorsed.

But what is criminality? I will nail it down to its most fundamental level. That is harming others to promote self. It is definitely not looking ugly or sounding raspy.

In the same vein goodness is not sounding sweet or looking beautiful. Probably the Sanskrit verses used it as a metaphor for sweetness.

We will be doing a sin if we don't call out the wilful atrocities of others. We are letting it perpetuate. We may be targets anyday. So to act foolish is to sin.

Now, you suggest me a better animal than wolf. It sounded the right one possessing both violent elements and cunningness.

There is no fear of getting punished. This impunity is what eggs them on to be so arrogant. But there is a lurking fear of God which I am sure is still there and they are desperate to get rid of that. They want to be free of any punishment and keep carrying out their audacious acts.

The only animal that has violence and cunningness of the Adharmic kind is a human.

This attitude of trying to forcefully control others and even spend significant efforts on technology to do that is small minded and immature. There is only one way they will grow up. When their technology totally stops working. That day is not far off.

Also the only animal that wears a suit and goes in a limousine I don't know what they call it and tries to ape a number of its own qualities. Well done Renuka!
