The U.S. economy is better off than it was in 2008, although you wouldn't know it from what you hear on television. It's a misperception that Dan Gross, co-host of The Daily Ticker and economics editor at Yahoo! Finance, aims to correct in his seventh book, "Better, Stronger, Faster."
Gross argues that the nation has bounced back from a near-death experience. However, many aspects of the economy continue to drag — most notably housing and jobs. While the housing sector may have hit bottom, "the U.S. has a very long way to go to make up for the lost ground in the economy," says Gross.

America is like WTC. There has not been a big past for it nor can one hazard a colourful future for it either. What is holding it together is the inflated dollar and military power. Nor culture, not principles, nor extraordinary anything which other four continents boast of.

Rise and fall of countries are very long time affairs. Mostly fortunate families reside in the countries that are on the rise or are near the top.

Does anyone remember the Greeks who invaded India some whare during 300 BCE led by some one named Alexander the Great? Now Greece is about to default on its external debt and may be out of euro zone. Could anyone would have imagined that about 5 years ago?

Even if any one asks the kids in the USA to list out their achievements in the last decade, not many can go beyond IPOD. USA is surely on the decline.
