<edited. kindly avoid posts that can be seen as vulgar. We are in a public domain and all it needs is somebody to misunderstand the intention of the post. Better be safe than sorry. - praveen>

<update: This message was edited not because it was vulgar but because there are people outside this forum who are jobless and seeking things to occupy themselves with. I did not want to give fodder to such idiots and hence removed this post. Has got nothing to do with Haridasa Sivaji or anyone else within the forum - praveen>

...... One question to others viewing this thread. There have been plenty of consanguineous marriages within Tamils and Telugus (marrying cousins, uncles etc.) So why the angst about sagotra marriages? Why is being the descendant of a 4000 year old rishi important while being descended from the same grandparent is not important?
Did you miss this post, Biswa Sir?

Dear Rajesh,

If you were worried about tradition, you should have the girl's gothram before loving her! After loving for

two years, you can't quit her saying that both your gothrams are same! Make sure that you are NOT the

descendants of the same great-grandfather. If NOT, proceed with your wedding. Best of luck! :)

P.S: It may be difficult to find the earlier generations. It is supposed to be no connections in 7 generations! :D

Ref post 19:

Kannada Brahmin girls are superb! Both Telugu & Kannada girls are good natured. Kannada Brahmin girls have better looks and innocence. Well. I am not sure whether they still have. But that is how it used to be.
Malayali girls are more of "bombs", if you understand what I mean. Tamilians are ok.:biggrin1:

This post is in very bad taste. Who are you to pronounce such judgments on girls of different groups of girls? A casanova ? Or a modern Vatsyaayana? There must be good, bad and in-between girls in every group and it is for the boy/man and the girl/woman concerned to mutually choose/agree on whom he/she considers as best for life partner.

Mr. TBS, is this the secret behind your Telugu knowledge?
hi
yes sir....for the sake of love...i learned telugu to convince the gal and her parents....finally i got a tamil gal with out

my proper tamil studies.....

Thank you very much Sangom Sir!

I was hesitating to write this point!

P.S: Even hardware is given a vulgar meaning in a few posts.

Dear Sangom ji,

Poor Haridas ji..he was just giving his opinion in a funny manner after all don't you too do so when you describe the Rasa Kreeda of Lord Krishna in a Oh very so sensuous manner...remember the heaving Payodhara with Kumkum which you love to write about so much! LOL

So I don't think Haridas Ji post was all that bad.

Dear RR ji,

In these days of computer era we usually choose words of the PC(personal computer) kind to get our message across.

When I attended a prayer recently the priest asked if anyone can define what is a Mantra?

So I answered Mananat Trayate Iti Mantrah and you know what the priest told me (he is from North India)?

He told me in Hindi "That is old fashioned style...no one will understand all this Mananat Trayate Iti Mantrah..he said Mantra is like a password to log into the God's website to download Sanskars"

So you see same way here Haridas ji used a word of the Computer Language to denote a biological function.

If you ask me I feel it was very very very Halal.

But I know opinions will differ.

Smt. Renuka ji,

When I criticize rAsakreeDA I am not giving any overall judgement on all gopis or all yAdava males for that matter. What I say is that the whole rAsakreeDA is porn of a kind which is held as sublime spiritual guidance by many hindus. This only has led to "parakeeya prEma" being bandied about as the best path for liberation etc., by the followers of Chaitanya and had caused the laughable situation in Bengal where some of these fellows, thinking that they were really gopis, started observing three days in a month, menstrual untouchability which, luckily for us, the British government put down in a jiffy.

Haridasa Siva was making value judgements about different groups of girls and it was of a different kind. I think the usually sober HS lost his bearings because girls were being discussed in a very loose fashion here. Whither went women's empowerment?

Dear Renu,

In a deo spray ad, even angels fall down in search of a man who uses it! I found it demeaning women. :humble:

But so far it is NOT banned because many others enjoy that ad! Taste differs.

Ok I read the whole thread only now, and to be fair Haridasa garu was only replying to a question. Maybe members shouldn't be asking such type of questions.

I dunno about deo sprays but who else thinks fair and lovely ads are disgusting. Imagine how bad dark girls must feel :(.

Kum. amala,

If you are obliquely referring to me by the word "members", I am sorry, I differ from you. Classifying each group of girls and certifying their good/bad qualities did not appear to be a decent thing for me. Such expositions are however found in Kamasutra. Hence I wrote my post. I have only good impression about Shri Haridasa Siva.

Noo SangomJi not you. You weren't the member that asked Haridasa garu that question to which he replied and got red inked!

Mr. Siva is a friend of mine. Having said this I have question for the women in this forum.
Are you trying to defend bad answers (demeaning to women) because you are scraping the bottom of the barrel, and trying to salvage, "not too rotten humans", as opposed to truly rotten?

Why do you think you have to accept 2nd best, this low self esteem in women is the main cause of suffering for women. Ladies you can do better, you do not have to accept 2nd best, go for the best.

Yes, I also think the advt. of this type should be completely banned. We did and still do have girls with dark complexion, happily married and so on. But now, there is an advt., in which the child asks the mother not to accompany to school because the mother is not having fair complexion. I feel this is all due the unprincipled and uncontrolled advertising industry.

Any way my wife and I are happy that we have no use for all such advertised goods and our life has nearly come to a close without being affected by all such "values" for which I blame the western culture only.

I am not defending anyone Sir. In fact yesterday itself I was extremely uncomfortable with the hardware joke. But then when I saw that it was another lady that's encouraging it, what can I say. So please ask your question to the other women. I don't approve of such descriptions either. But Haridasa garu was being egged on imho. I wish you'd be fair and ask Biswa Sir as well since he was the one that actually asked Haridasa garu the question.

Yes, these are disgusting ads.
I was shocked to see it on TV and print media.
In USA it would have been banned.

Dear sangom,

If you please permit me to say sir,

Of late I find quite many an instance, when you blame what you perceive as something ‘bad’ happening in india, and attribute it to ‘western decadence’ or ‘western culture’. Going into the rights and wrongs of western culture, to me, akin to throwing stones, while living in a glasshouse. So I will sidestep that.

But I would like to share a lingering feeling, that each time you mention the invasion of ‘west’ into our society, you are probably insulting our own senses and common senses. What happened to our suya buddhi? நம்மளூடு மூளை எங்கே போச்சு ? Don’t we have the sense to know what is good for us?

For example, the concept of ‘fair and lovely’, is but a reflection of our fascination with fair skins. I have seen my relatives, dark as charcoal, being shunned in the marriage market, inspite of impeccable credentials, by, YES, equally dark skinned matches. Even ‘darkies’ want apparently only ‘lighties’?

I think we ourselves, with our antiquated ‘values’, open ourselves to the corruption of the mind. Had we possessed sufficient strength of purpose, we would have shunned such products and ads. Done in large numbers, the stuff would die their natural death, and be consigned to the garbage. No?

So, maybe we should look at ourselves, a wee bit more closely, that point a finger at the west. For after all when we point one finger, is not, the thumb points upwards, but three fingers point back at us? I think there is a moral hidden in that.

Thank you.

Please dont self-appoint yourself to be a censor. There are already two active moderators in the forum. Any post can have a chance of offending someone or the other. The same post might be applauded by other members, or be viewed as rather humorous.

The moderators I am sure take an impartial view for the good of the whole forum. I would appreciate if individual members dont try to impose their own sense of morality on everybody else.

They already do, don't they? Why wont anybody always go for the very best? Unless of course if somebody does not have enough currency in their pocket. In that case it should be ok to go for the 2nd best, 3rd best or anything you can get for the amount of money, brain-cells, looks and power that you have.

Dear Shri Kunjuppu,

On this point (topic) I cannot but agree with you 101%. You win the point. But there are subtle psychological points which have also to be considered. While we can blame grown up women eager to have a "gOri, chitti" bahu for her son in most parts of India is necessarily to be found fault with, these companies like F&L do not target them; their target audience is teenaged girls, young boys and girls etc. Here, I do not feel that suya buddhi or நம்மளோடு மூளை எங்கே போச்சு, etc., kind of arguments will apply. Thus, these advting companies are in effect brain washing whole new generations of people which is very disastrous for the country, I believe.

The government, the politicians and the decision-makers are now incapable of seeing what is good for the country; their farthest view will be how to win the next elections and once again start amassing illegal wealth.

That is the bane of this country!

Dear Amala,

How will the dark complexioned boys feel?

Fairness cream are not only for women! See these ads:

Emami's Fair and Handsome Fairness Cream

Bollywood Superstar with Men's Fairness Cream

Fair and Handsome- Fairness cream for men

Shmt.Raji Ram,

Many of these fairness creams can't make a dark complexioned guy/gal whiter/fairer. But, make the face glowing and appealing. The skin of the face looks blemish less, smooth and vibrant. There will be a sort of freshness and all this would make the face attractive and welcoming.

There is a craze for such creams among boys and girl for two different reasons.

1) To have a glowing and attractive face to feel confident and happy to face a girl/boy

2) To get selected in certain jobs like Travel and Hospitality industry, Aviation Industry and even MNC's where they expect employees to be well present in their costume and looks.

Such make up done to some reasonable extent and to cope up with the above situation is no wrong, IMHO.

I use the costliest - PONDS GOLD RADIANT, DAY CREAM :).

Though I prefer not to use such cosmetics, at the end of the day I chose to use it. I use only PONDS FOAM Based Face Wash and no soaps. And use, NIVEA Shower Gel for MEN and NIVEA Body Lotion for Men..

Have stoped using soaps for face and face powder since 1998.

I find cosmetics as a problem ONLY for some girls/women. That is, when they do such a over make up on daily basis that they look more horrible in that, with out which they would be looking much better. By such over make up they end up spoiling their skin too.

Clearly the customers of fair and lovely dont view it as disgusting. Otherwise how are they in business for so long? Maybe dark girls want to look fair as well. Maybe they want to go into movies or modelling. Why do you think you speak for all women?

Did I say I speak for all women? Your hostility is very obvious. Clearly having a bad day...very telling
