VANCOUVER: Super30 founder and mathematician Anand Kumar has been honoured in Canada for his pioneering work in the field of education.

The Legislature of British Columbia, Canada has honoured the 42-year-old for his rare achievements to the students from India's underprivileged sections.

The British Columbia Government had invited Kumar in recognition of his work through globally acclaimed Super30, which has successfully mentoring 30 students mostly from the
underprivileged sections.

Kumar's Super 30 in Bihar's capital Patna, has shaped IITians out of a bunch of 30 students selected from underprivileged sections of the society year after year for the last 14 years - that, too, free of cost and without any donation from any government or private agency.

In the packed hall of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly, Legislators from Maple Ridge, Mark Dalton read put the citation last night, lauding his courage and foresight, as also the initiative that has ushered
in a silent revolution to empower the poor with quality education.

"Despite facing problems, Kumar continued with his big mission and he is still carrying it forward with tremendous zeal.

It is really commendable, as he does it all by himself without any donation from any quarter despite offers of financial help," Dalton said.

The Speaker Linda Reid honoured Kumar with a memento and appreciated his endeavour.

A couple of years ago also, he was honoured by government of British Columbia for his educational initiative for the poor.
