My father passed away on Aadi Suklapaksha panchami in 2018. That day also happened to be Garuda Panchami as per chAndramAnam. In 2026, Aadi panchami is on 19 Jul, but Garuda Panchami is on 17 Aug. I am not sure if 17 Aug is still Aadi or Avani. Could experts here please advise the correct sraadham date? Dhanyosmi.

First year ceremony they preferably check one full year has passed. So also fall of Tamil Month and Thithi. Then rules and T&C also apply. So best is to check with the family Sastrigal. Spirituality also same like C.A. Each have their interpretation. So our Family sastrigal is final who check and get you the correct information. Remember to write the English date (with time of passing away also) to cross check the thithi on that date for future thithi dates.

If you follow Tamil Aadi Panchami, garuda panchami need not be considered as it is attached with Hindu Shravana month which may vary according to the lunar cycle. (In lunar cycle in every 32/33 months a month is getting added and that is called adhik month or purushothama mass and this year it is coming in may-june).
