Nowadays Homams areperformed rarely in houses. General saying is that once in 6 months homam to beperformed. The good effects are evil eyes will be driven out because ofmandiram’s power added with agni. The homam smoke will remain in the home forfew days which is good. People are not realising; spending unnecessary in hotels; inviting diseases; going to hospitals; consuming medicines; the body isaddicted to medicines; shelling out the money for various tests; spending moneylike water to get rid of the disease and permanently consuming medicines.
On the contrary purohits perform the homam as per sastras [veryrare] many are behind money because they will have temples to look after andwithin short span they will finish homam and go. The doer will not getsatisfied at all and the benefits also will not reach him. Because of this peopleare not interested in homams.
To overcome both thesituations myself and my friend decidedto start performing homams in houses at affordable costs. We have not done anyadyayana on homams. But we refer books and recite all the mandirams as persastrams. Sukthams, mala and seersha mandiramswill be recited which is a must for a homam.
