Dear all, we do not call elder brother's wife by name, why because she is considered as mother(amma sthanam) so we call her by special name as manni.younger brother's wife is considered as younger sister, normally in our household we call younger brother and younger sister by name only, in the same way younger brother's wife , sister in law, is called by name.
Pudhiya kalacharam arambippavargal kuzhappam illamal irundhal serithan!-as there is a possibility of a number of younger brothers and number of younger sisters in laws!

Dear all, our father, grandfather and forefather used to name like krishnan, raman, lakshmi, narayanan, parvati, sivan, saraswathi, ganesan, karthikeyan, subramanian , thiyagarajan, srinivasan, varadarajan, narasimhan, etc-when they called their children by their names, they had twin benefits, one the child was called, second , they were able to chant the name of the lord and goddess, in kaliyuga, chanting of god's name is the only remedy for all ills.so our parents by calling these names, lived a peaceful life!-now it is ulta-you do not want even the name to be called!-not only that in many homes, good names have been slashed to suit modern times-krishnan becomes kittu, lakshmi becomes lakku, subramanian becomes subbu, saraswathi becomes sachu, parvati becomes paru, narayanan becomes nari-like this so many twists in many names!-now who wants to name their children after god?-yathra, nethra, alka, bhingu, ajay, to name a few!

You are right Dr.Renuka ji,

Kaduvul thoon liyum irupaaru, thurumbu liyum irupaaru.....

When the names of son / daughter are after God, in most of the cases something happens like this - Yeai Saraswathi Vanthu tholayen di, Yeai lakshmi vozhenju tholayen di, Ganesh....rascal...ukkaarnthu padi da...

So just naming after God is not the criteria to enjoy the positive vibes of the Godly names...

Dear all...

I had read a book sometime ago about relationships and karma...
It really not like what we imagine it to be..

Ok..the story goes like this..there was a man who was very devoted to his family and he had a child and his child died of a prolonged illness..
This man felt very dejected..really tormented to see his child suffer and die..

He had seen a bonafide religous person and unloaded his heart contents and wanted to search for peace.
He was told that in his previous birth he had an enemy...He really hated the enemy and the enemy also really hated him..they both wanted to make each others life hell..
they never sorted out the differences..

So in this birth the enemy was born as his child and by falling sick and dying the child made the life of this man also "hell"..no peace and only agony.

So it clearly shows us not to hate anyone...till the feeling of hatred goes away..we will be faced with the similar situation from janma to janma...

Ok i am not joking here..but being serious...
So dont hate and despice anyone...even Nithyananda...

You are right...Ills of modern society were not prevalent during the life time of our forefathers..

In this modern society, we all got separated from each other, living in isolation and living a independent life, hitting google to find out the most unique and modern baby names and to get to know about parenting. Because we don't have time to spare and patience to apply our common sense towards building human relationships.
