Quotable Quotes Part II

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

Abraham Lincoln

Adversity gives us no choice but to put up with it.
On the other hand power gives us unlimited choice.
Power corrupts almost everyone.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Experience runs a dear school
but fools will learn no where else.

Experience runs a hard school
but morons will not learn even there!

It is classic case of these two freaks

the irresistible force and

the immovable object.

For those who may need a footnote...

Moron
is a term once used in psychology to denote mild mental retardation.

Moron a person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment.

Pleasure

Pleasure is a sin and sometimes Sin is a pleasure.
Lord Byron

(Who can be better qualified to talk about sins and pleasures than the "mad bad and dangerous to know" Lord Byron?)

One half of the world cannot understand the
the pleasure of the other.
Jane Austin.

(That is why there is so much of unnecessary friction in the world!)

“Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your ownroom.”

Usually those who accomplish something are generally dissatisfied

since they want to perform better and rise to greater heights.

It is the non achiever (who imagines himself to be an achiever) that feels

as snug as a bug in a rug.

We just have to look around if we need examples for people giving

undue self-importance as if the world will come to a grinding halt - but

for their superior guidance
and words of wisdom.

Poets and Poetry

Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world. :thumb:
P.B.Shelly.

There is pleasure in poetic pains
Which only the poets know.

William Cowper

If poetry comes not as naturally as leaves
to a tree it had better not come at all.
John Keats.
