Question about Panchakacham

Dear all,

I have seen several threads about this query I have but never have found a full sound answer.

The question is: Can Brahmacharis wear Panchakacham

The reason I ask this is because I struggle to find any literature or source that specifies only Grhasthas are to wear Panchakacham only, and I also see other Brahmacharis (like from ISKCON & in North India) wear their veshti as Panchakacham. Is this merely a Tamil Bhramin tradition or is there something I am missing?

Thanks friends.

Hi all,

I did some research and found this statement by ISKCON in Dehradun.

From this it seems that the Panchakacham can be interpreted symbolically and doesn’t have a specific prescription that only Grhasthas can wear it.

Appreciate all your inputs friends.
