Query related to upanayanam

Sir,

I am presently north based Tamil & I wanted to organized my sons poonal at Kasi. But some suggestions said that it will not good to conduct Poonal at Kasi . So can any body clarify my position why ?

Mr Srinivasan,

There is nothing bad in conducting a upanayanam in a sacred place. In the south , Kasi is viewed only as a place we do pitru karyams that is why you may get rejections. It is not mentioned in any sastras that we should not do a subha karyam there.
