GS Sir,
I don't think the "church" or the "christians" are the architects of anti-brahmin movement or dravidianism in tamil nadu. The dravidians comprising of vellalas, chettiars, mudaliars, naickers etc who successfully sold brahmin hatred to the masses come under the hindu umbrella only. It may be true that christians as a community/vote-bank may have supported the dravidian parties politically so as to secure the welfare of their own community. In a state and country where practice of identity politics is the main form of politics, every group aligns with one side or the other. But blaming christians for hatred against brahmins is a red-herring!
To the best of my knowledge brahmin-hatred is prevalent only in TN especially after some vengayam started DK capitalizing on the sentimental weakness, emotional weakness, naivete, ignorance, gullibility, vulnerability and narrow mindedness of tamilians. they just fell flat for the term 'dravidian' irrationally, giving hardly any thought on its veracity, validity. vengayam gained political mileage following the anti-brahmin wave generated by stirring up the non-existent illusory 'dravidan' sentiment. The anti brahmin hatred was started by the upper caste non brahmin Hindus but Christians and Muslims are enjoying the benefits. Telugu communities are getting benefited due to the CM's family and so support the Dravidian movement. As Christians get benefited due to conversion and increase in population they too support the anti brahmin politics.
