He that loseth his honesty,
hath nothing else to lose.
(John Lyly)

Knavery may serve a turn,
but honesty never fails.
(J.Ray)

Prosperity brings friends
and adversity tests them.

Sweet are the uses of adversity

Which, like the toad, ugly and venomous

Wears yet a priceless jewel in its head

And this our life exempt from public haunt

Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks

Sermons in stones and good in everything.

(Can any one tell me the name of this poet please?)

We always love those who admire us, and

we do not always love those whom we admire.

(La Rochefoucald)

Women's beauty like men's wit, is generally fatal to the owners.

(Lord Chesterfield)

A beautiful form is better than a beautiful face;

A beautiful behavior is better than a beautiful form.

It is the finest of fine arts.

Don't give advice.
The wise men don't need it.
Fools won't take it
(Ching Chow)

Fools take more than what they want
or want more than what they get.
Wise men never.

Fools trusts none but himself.
The wise man trust all but himself.

dear friends,

I just wantonly posted the message

"Fools trusts none but himself.
The wise man trust all but himself."

to find out how many people really 'Ponder over the points'!

Except 'The Nakkeerar of our Forum' no one found anything amiss.
Hats off to Mr. Nara!
:cheer2:

The correct quotations is this :

"The wise man trusts none but himself.
Fool trusts all but himself".

Pardon my practical joke :)

with warm regards,
V.R.

P.S.

I have earned the name as a 'cheer leader'. I can become one now and then, just to justify my hard-earned-name. Right? :)

Seek till you find, and you will never lose your friend.

No man is so rich as he, who owes nothing.

Evil is like a weed. It may thrive for a while, but it always dies.

A fool is like the others until he opens his mouth.

An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.(Gandhiji)

You must be the change you wish to see in this world. (Gandhiji)

Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever. (Gandhiji)

To believe in something and not live it, is dishonest. (Gandhiji)

The weak never forgive, forgiveness is the attribute of the strongest. (Gandhiji)

I am grateful to be reminded of these great quotes from Gandhiji! Thanks!

Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever. (Gandhiji)

In my opinion 'Live as if there is no tomorrow' usually encourages indulgence without any control - since there is no tomorrow!

Observation brings wisdom, not old age.

A matter is not finally settled, until it is settled right.

A wise man talks because he has something to say.
A fool because he wishes to say something.

It is better to ask for the advice in the beginning, than in the end.

Hi, I wish to say something -- I am told it ain't over until its over, or something like that. Would you advice me whether I am right?

Thanks ...

Persons who believe that money is everything are
frequently prepared to do everything for money.

A man shows his character by what he laughs at.

A gossip's tongue is like a cows -
smooth on one side and rough on the other.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Is it not what today's scams are all about? Is there any redemption for those indulging in scams and seemingly justifying their conduct?

Dear Mr. Kahanam,

My father used to say very often ,"The more we have, the more we want!".

He was a man of few words and a busy doctor practicing in a village.

His statement includes everything from sleep, drugs, money, dresses, jewels and

the list can go on and on!

Yes the more we have, the more we want.

The politicians have a lot of money but they never ever get satisfied. They are

ruthless enough to make the best use of every possible way to amass their ill
gotten wealth.:attention:

Sad indeed is the state of affairs now :(

with warm regards,
V.R.

believe the person who says he seeks the truth.

Doubt the person who claims to have found it.

Knowledge can be gained only by a pure and unperturbed mind.

A mind filled with hatred and anger resists the entry on knowledge.

Correction does much. But encouragement does more.
Encouragement often censures us as the Sun after a shower.

Half the pleasure of solitude comes from having with us
some friend to whom we can say how sweet the solitude is!

"Only a higher power than man can control the powers of Atomic energy"
(Dr. Lisa Meitner)

Only a tree laden with fruits gets stoned.

Courtesy may demand a reply!
But wanton taunt is best ignored.

Education is nothing but a methodical creation of the habit of thinking.

In nature there are neither rewards, nor punishments.
There are consequences.

Unless a person is a genius, it is best to aim at being intelligible.

We need greater virtues to bear good fortune than bad.

One of the tests of true leadership is the ability to
recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.

Sin has many tools, but life is the handle which fits them all.

The problem of life is not to make life easier, but to make men stronger.

True love is a ghost, which everybody talks about but few have seen.
