Good Neighborly Relations

>>We do not want to put any Christian off by telling them you are different from us, that you march to hell.<<

Shrimathi H H

This actually reminded me of my neighbor here. One day out of the blue, the dude, confided in me saying, some Pentacostal Church goers accused him that he will go to hell.My neighbor has retorted to them as he is United Methodist, that since we both love christ,we both will either go to heaven or hell. And asked me,whether he was correct in saying so.

I was initially taken aback,as i was new in the block. But having done extensive research, and attained a certain amount of atma gyaanam,i suggested,he read Bloodline of the holy grail, the hidden lineage of jesus revealed by Laurence Gardiner. In fact,i said i will lend this copy of the book, and he should read and return.

Strangely, this american fellow, did not return the book, nor was he friendly like before. It was as if Jekyl & Hyde personality, which of course all of us have, prolly we call it sura & asura traits!!Then ,i asked him to return my book.Which he did.If looks could kill,i would be dead by now,was how i perceived of him after that. Not only that,he started to falsely allege my lil daughter of mischief.Thats it, i blew my top, fired him left right and center. Now we are not in speaking terms.Ayyogya payyan.

My point is,Christians have a personal god, which we called eons back as Ishta Devata concept,in Sanathana Dharma.I am of the opinion, the map of Bharatham extended way beyond as what it is now.Lord Krishna has given us a spiritual clue in Bhagavath Gita, already.

It's really a moot point for me at least, the differences which people like to bring about.Sure there are differences, which are Integral part of Sanathana Dharma, only.

Hope i made sense.:D.

Dear Shri s007bala,

Differences are an integral part of society life. Any attempt at homogenizing the society would only result in disruption... Maybe the reason why we have so many Gods - to adapt to a particular frequency of mind.

A God may be a manifestation of a feeling (like love, hatred, passion, anger) for the emotional type... (that is where velichapaadu and iyyanar "trances" come in)... for the logical mind, it is the "Brahman"... for the "rendun-gettan" like me, it is everything in nothing...

These are not to be compared... for these cannot be compared on the same footing... they are different in their approach, in their practice and in their target audience. People who compare and contrast between these types are only fools who have not understood the underlying principle.

That is why I always recommend to let sleeping gaints lie... for once awake, they could very well trample all our known world.

So, that is why even the learned would not agree that there is no papam or punyam, for if they do propagate that, it is bound to cause chaos in society...

Differences ought to be, for it is the very essence of existence.

Regards,
Seshadri

P.S. Seshadri is my name; Subramaniam is my father's...

I am only reminded of Guru Swami Chinmayananda's discourse in Bangalore, when i was an engineering student. He used to cite,electricity-the unseen power behind so many gadgets..is similiar to god concept....

My name is Suresh.

Sir,i actually am of the belief, that values as enshrined in our dharmas,Americans follow it better by following it in practical day to day life.

I feel as Tamil Brahmins,we are too cerebral, lazy lot..giving importance to silly dingbat issues, when we actually ought to be more practical in approach,to situations prevailing in our customs and traditions.

I did my thing,in a small way.I wanted to see only one girl,no dowry......progressive ideas.I made a ton of mistakes too.But at least i live the way i want, not letting foggy ideas to brow beat me.

Even when it comes to papam and punyam.I do what my conscience tells me.Sometimes,i am right sometimes i am terribly wrong.I guess its part of life.

Take marriage for instance.Todays girls are equally well educated, have dreams and ambitions, want to participate in more pro-active manner in decision making process,of choosing mates....we say Kanya Danam?I mean its sort of like bargaining or trade off,as if the girl is a commodity or slave...maybe it has its practical value..but then, shouldn't there be a organised approach, right in school,to teach our traditions and customs..on the contrary, with english medium and western conceptualised teaching & learning models..our younger generation find a dis-connect with our own cultures and rich heritage.

All i see, lies deciet cheating in a sophisticated manner,to optimise profits either by hook or by crook.Values are being thrown in the dust bin.

As Tamil Brahmin,i hardly have friends,in my community ...understandably in America to expect is also foolhardiness...the next best would be ethnic closeness like Indian-Americans....ROFL,the lesser i write about Indian _ Americans dingbats its better for all of us...so...only Cauc-asians Christians are my majority friends....nothing wrong with that....but this last eight years have changed them too...beyond irrepairable damage of the psyche...thnkfully africans are coming to the rescue...

Anyways,i am a minority amongst minority classification..my children will have no knowledge of of Tamil Brahminism or Kannada Brahminism...which is anyways becoming extinct like dodo birds..a relic of the past.

Shri Suresh, I agree with you on that there should be a basic schooling on our values, customs and traditions.

We need to organize now... "brahminism" is sort of fading/merging into a sort of existentialism...

I think religious leadership is rudderless, and our religion itself is getting tossed around like a boat with no direction at all.

India is the only country where Hinduism is in majority. But yet today,my personal opinion is,hindus themselves are being treated as aliens,in their place of birth. If that is the situation in India,at least Hindus are allowed to do their thingy,in a private surroundings,in countries outside of India.

Dr.Kumar and his associates have all pooled their resources,to build a South Indian style of temple worship.Of course he himself is Kundalini Practioners, with Amma Karumari Ammans grace, potentially activated within him.

Wish i could afford to go there more often.I guess Amma will know when i ought to visit such sthalams.

I don't know how,the commercialisation of temples, have come into vogue though.Probably its a much needed ways and means of keeping hindu dharma afloat or will soon be extinct...and DK philosophy of Charavakkan will rule roost...sometimes i feel,in Kali Yugam, its better brahmins don't follow the dharma,so that,Kalki Avataram, will quickly come to stop adharma...Dec 21 2012,will be start of Golden Years for all in Bhu-Loka,as per my dream...na ma si va ya

An interesting aside to the main topic:

Dec 21st 2012... isnt it? Doomsday!!! the mayan calendar ends....

Just read on some site that there might be a pole shift and that could bring in cataclysmic changes...

Na Ra Ya Na Ya Na Ma Ha.... :)

Spot on... when characterless people rule the state, the lives are bound to become abyssmal...

To add:

Na Mah Si Va Ya...

When i had a near death experiance,it was my friend from Coimbatore who saved my life. Not the Iranians who were watching as mute spectators. When i thought i am dying, all i could think, good bye earth.I feel so strange when i think of this thought now.

sb

At the time of dying, its expected to think of god,so that we merge with him.Instead i said goodbye earth.I myself dunno, why i said that to myself.Maybe a past life regressionist with hypnosis might make me understand it better. But then i am petrified to try all that.I will stick with Guru,Babas,Ammas...:)

Glad to have you in our midst....

BTW, could it be that your sub-conscious knew that it was not time yet... and hence that lingering thought? No offence meant.
