no threat to power................

I dont get it! Why off the lights and then light the diyas?

Why not just light diyas without the need to off all lights at home.

What if the grid can't manage the loading and surge?

Its a pandemic and human lives are dependent on ventilators for survival now if infected with Covid-19..so why do all these stuff now?

Risk taking!

A request to switch off the lights at house and light the diyas is taking different shape by opposition and hence this clarification by ruling party.

There are lot of rumours going round in Social Medias....

Some of them are fake.

It may be to clarify the cause/reason behind such messages.

PM Modi’s message on lighting candles prompts rumours. Don’t believe them, says PIB Fact Check

“Don’t fall for the rumours/unscientific reasoning on the appeal for lightning Diya/candles/flash/torch on 5th April at 9pm,” says a tweet posted by the handle of Press Information Bureau.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a video message earlier today. He asked citizens to light candles and mobile flashlights on April 9 for 9 minutes in a show of solidarity in the fight against Coronavirus. No sooner was the message delivered than people began speculating reasons for this appeal. WhatsApp and social media have since been rife with many misleading messages that ‘explain’ and ‘analyze’ the initiative. Calling such posts “rumours/unscientific reasoning”, Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Twitter handle has requested people not to fall for such messages.

this page is not cooperating to upload a video for you where in a well known sastric pandit had answered today on the need to switch off electric lights . He says when only natural divine light is lit no artifcal or coloured lights be in the vicinity . In fact if u go tradional age old temples in garbha gruham [sanctum sanctorum] only oil lamps few to many will be lit and no electrical lights will amplify the light in that place . the solemnity of the diyas are nullified by lighting in same place other electrical /ununatural/artficial lamps .precisely wick soaked oil lamps

Which power grid exploded…..?? or did not start…..?

Of course, grid did not fail, but the conspiracy theory liberals failed. Fake news failed. Rumours failed.

The power grid seems to be fine.

Minds of disgruntled would have been busy in praying for failure of the grid. But, God proved great.

Power Minister RK Singh says 'No impact on electrical grid during 9-mins lights-out event'
