hello everyone,
I have been exploring the net for some forum where I could express my concerns and ideas. I think I found the forum that I think will meet my expectations.
I have read some of the discussions and the good give and take that have followed each and every hot topic. It is good to talk about the various aspects, the growth and development Brahmins and in general the Hindus have gone through the ages. The various problems faced by TBs have been discussed very eloquently in here. But my main concern is, are we just going to discuss things that have been happening for many a centuries or take some kind of stand or action. Am not preaching to be Re-active, but what are we going to do to be Pro-active.
this brings to the point of my primary concern/questions. Of late, say in the past 400 yrs or so, along with the Europeans came this wave of new religion. Christianity. ever since we have seen many a millions of our people getting converted. this is not something that is only 400 yrs old. it has happened all through the history of our religion. but at this time, in many regions of this country there are these so called missionary workers who are trying to convert people. covertly and overtly. through the guise of help and aid.
my questions to the members of this group/forum are:
1. what are we going to do as Brahmins? as many of u have mentioned that we as Brahmins, are the safe guardians/leaders/experts of Hinduism and the Vedas.
2.What/why/how can we be involved in similar "missionary" works to spread the word of Hinduism and spark a mini revelation to all the people and try to stem the tide of conversion?
3.We dont have to say anything negative or get violent against the missionaries spreading their religion, but be pro-active and try to make people more aware of who and what it is to be a Hindu and the virtues of it. so they can make an educated choice and just not be misled.
I know the group has discussed a lot of things that conern the Brahmins and the TBs. But I feel it is time that we dwell outside this and look at the bigger picture as Hindus and try to do something. I have been thinking about this for a long time. I hear all the "atrocities against the minorities" happening in Orissa reported all the time in newspapers all around the world. Hinduism just like all these religions need to get global and pro-active in dealing with many such misintepretation, most of them on purpose, to protect itself. I know there are lot of us who live all over the world and I think monetary resources can be gathered to arrange for such Hindu missionary trips to every corner of the world. WHY CANT WE TAKE THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR RELIGION AND THE WORDS OF OUR GODS/SAINTS TO OTHERS?
