Can you please explain the similarities, differences, and significance of these two. When and all, these two has to be done? If it is a marriage, mangali pondugal will be done in the bride's home first and after marriage it will be done in groom's home. Is it Ok or should be done both before and after on both sides?

Naandhi is to evoke the blessings of the Pitrus.
But Mangalipondugal is to please the ladies in the family who have died as Sumangalis.It is also called Sumangali Prarthanai,
An interesting bit on Naandhi.The skandapurana says before his marraige to Himvan's daughter Parvati as a part of the marriage ceremony Siva performed Naandhi
Some of the Grihya Sutras do not prescribe Nandhi at the time of a wedding.But Naandhi is compulsory according to all the Sutras at the time of Upanayanam
