My wife doesn't want to wear Madisar for any ceremonies

I am having constant conflicts with my wife regarding some traditions.

My wife who is a madhwa and I am an iyengar. It is custom to wear 9-yards during rituals. We were having a discussion about on the occasions she might have to do so. She was soo against it wearing it and we broke out into a long argument.

She is ok with participating in any ritual in the future and has nothing against rituals itself but just hates wearing 9-yards.

Does the ritual loose meaning without 9-yards? I caught between her and my parents. Any attempts convince her makes her think we are stripping away her freedom of choosing what to wear.

Have any of you guys faced this?

The ritual does not lose its spiritual meaning because of a garment, but it may lose its traditional completeness in the eyes of elders or orthodox practitioners. Most modern guidance suggests that harmony in the family is more sacred than the specific yardage of a saree.
