'My new life as an Indian wife'

'My new life as an Indian wife'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRnGqhYhHdg

Two years ago Lauren was living in the south of England and studying pharmacy. Abhiram, originally from India, lived and worked in New Jersey. In December 2012 they made contact on a vegetarian forum online. As they chatted they fell in love, and within days of that first online conversation decided they wanted to be together.
Just a few weeks later Lauren moved to India and they got married. They now live in Nagpur in central India together with Abhiram's family where Lauren is adjusting to life as a traditional Indian wife. They told the BBC their story.

world free of rape

world free of rape

Rape cases have been dominating the news recently and we cannot help but feel ashamed of ourselves for being Indian and not being able to do anything about it. This soliloquy questions a world that violates the modesty of women who are mothers, sisters, girlfriends and daughters. What did they do? The idea of a world free of rape sounds idealistic, but is it possible?

The Scariest Anti-Smoking Ad Ever?

The Scariest Anti-Smoking Ad Ever?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MidLOhRnpnU

In India, 'Raam Naam Satya Hai' is chanted when a dead body is carried
to the funeral pyre. This chant is synonymous with death. So we tried to leverage this well-known local idiom for an anti-smoking message. Result was a chanting lighter. Fitted at cigarette shops in place of the regular lighters, this chanting lighter played the death chant, every time someone tried to light a cigarette.

As a result, most smokers were totally shocked by the bluntness of the message that they decided not to light their cigarettes there. Some of them, out of a sense of realization and horror, even threw the cigarettes away.

Yamaraj - Drink and Get Driven

Yamaraj - Drink and Get Driven

(Probably a repeat post, worth watching it again )

By and large, Indians are a God-fearing and superstitious lot. Zara, a popular Tapas Bar in Chennai, in association with Chennai Traffic Police decided to address drunken driving (responsible for 70% of road fatalities in India), by leveraging this mindset. Yama, the God of Death from Hindu mythology was used to drive home the message, quietly arriving in the patron's car when the valet brought it back. Seeing the God of Death as a wake-up call, most patrons who experienced the live stunt opted to use the drivers-for-hire service.
