# Anant Goenka: “[As a Marwari, I have] an inherent drive to spend wisely and to build wealth. Whether large or small, [the 2,500 sq ft bachelor pad he bought after running up hefty hotel bills] is our own. It’s a Marwari thing. We are obsessed with appreciation.”
LOL!
But when it comes to wealth and success he is a Marwari no doubt!
Wonder why he wants to claim to be what he is not? Is he married?? May be he likes a TB female!
BTW he said this:
Viveck Goenka, son of Ramnath Goenka tells Forbes India:
# “I see myself as a proper Tamilian Brahmin [Goenka grew up in Tamil Nadu], that’s my upbringing.”

Welcome to the fold.
Iyer or Iyengar or Madhwa.
His father was close to Rajaji; take your pick!
I dont get it..how can a cat become a mouse or a mouse become a cat cos the cat lived near mice or the mouse lived near cats.
Does not make sense right?
How can anyone claim to be another caste when he is actually from another caste?
I dont see any valid reason why he even needs to claim this..unless he is trying to impress a TB female!LOL
I have seen such behavior in males..suddenly they would want to identify themselves with the caste of the girl they fancy and after marriage there would be a 180 degree turn and the guy will revert to his original caste tradition and the girl would wonder what happened suddenly.
When I was young I grew up in a place surrounded by jungle and many of my "best buddies" were monkeys from the jungle..but I still remained human!LOL
When he wants to be one, why criticize; one can be happy that he has picked up from environment (neighbourhood) and association some brahminical values, customs and traditions (what has appealed to him and influenced him). Don't we have indo americans who are more american than the white americans and have a healthy disrespect for hindutva and traditional hindu values and systems.
One can love, learn from, ignore, or hunt monkeys as per his/her mental disposition. There was a BBC programme on a monkey population in a rajastani town - people tolerate the rowdy behaviour, mainly stealing food, of the monkeys and co exist.
I have noted that some of us Indians tend to get real "excited" when some other race or community tries to follow our traditions..its looks as if some of us are constantly looking for appreciation and acknowledgement of some kind or the other...why?? is is becos of lack of confidence that we get carried away when others try to follow our traditions?
Don't you want others to improve themselves even if they want!!!!
Voluntary mobility must be welcomed.
I am a brahmin by birth. I wonder why anyone would like to be a brahmin either thru false projection or by association. It does not confer any
benefit in economic sense . it is one of the deprived communities.its rituals are performed in sanskrit which most do not know. this brahminism along with vegetarianism and difficult to perform rituals is an albatross around the neck of the brahmins. add to it the difficulties due to discrimination in edn. and jobs and inability to find suitable matches for menfolk ,it can not be a desirable goal to aim at.why a marwari or anyone else would want it is a mystery.marwari thinks of economics . he could have chosen some other community in tamilnadu with whom he can have a synergy.
When the words are from the horse's mouth, no one wants to take them at face value and accept. When someone says I, a born brahmin, is not one, he gets several likes!
If some one says I am a brahmin by conviction, I am not going to object or discourage, but welcome his stand.
