In biological domain, Shiva is consciousness, Vishnu is the evolver of this consciousness, Lakshmi is the wealth of knowledge, nRsimha is the stage of evolution in which a conscious logical mind (nara) evolves on top of sub-conscious intuitive (simha) mind.
The conscious (logical) and subconscious (intuitive) thought processes create and hold knowledge. Hence nRsimha holds the Lakshmi. nRSimha symbolizes this combination of logical and intuitive power in the puranic story also.
nRsimha came bursting out of a pillar at the time of dusk, in a combination of man and animal and killed Hiranyakasipu at the gate of the palace. nRsimha thus combined the power of logical thinking (to overcome the boon of Hiranyakasipu) and intuitive power (emotions). nRsimha tells us to channelize our subconscious power through logical thinking processes to overcome powerful troubles.
