China sets world record for largest ever prenatal class with 505 pregnant women

It was a bit of a stretch, but a new record was set for the World’s Largest Prenatal Class in China when 505 pregnant women practised yoga together.


Dressed in purple leotards, the women made for quite a sight in Changsha, the capital of southern China's Hunan Province.


The 505 women, who all produced medical proof showing they are 12 weeks or more pregnant, did the group yoga in Juzizhou Park for 37 minutes and 28 seconds under the watchful eye of Guinness Record officials.

சர்வதேச யோகாசன தினத்தையொட்டி குருசாமி கூறியதாவது:ஆர்வம் காரணமாக கீழப்பட்டி தெருவை சேர்ந்த கோபால் என்பவரிடம் யோகா கற்றேன். 1980 முதல் யோகாசனம் செய்கிறேன். தினமும் அதிகாலை 5 மணி முதல் யோகா செய்ய துவங்குவேன். இதனால்தான் இன்றும் என் உடல் ஆரோக்கியமாக உள்ளது. மதுரை, கோவை, சென்னை, நெய்வேலி யில் நடந்த யோகாசன போட்டிகளில் விருதுகள் பெற்றுள்ளேன்.ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்துாரில் நடந்த ஒரு விழாவில் நடிகர் சிவக்குமாருடன் யோகா போட்டி போட்டுள்ளேன். யோகாவை அனைவரும் குறிப்பாக பெண்கள் கற்றுக்கொள்ளவேண்டும். அனைத்து குழந்தைகளும் யோகா கற்பது கட்டாயமாக்கப்பட வேண்டும் . சமுதாய ஒழுக்கத்திற்கு யோகா மிகவும் அவசியம். இதன்மூலம் மனம் ஒருமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டு தேவையற்ற எண்ணங்கள், பிரச்னைகளை தவிர்க்க முடியும்,”என்றார்.

Though it is colloquially called 'Yoga' nowadays, these aasanas form part of Hatha yoga which is believed to have been revealed by Siva to Parvati in absolute secrecy.

Siva did not want anyone else to know about this HaThayOga which he was telling Parvati. But a fish, it seems heard the whole thing, remembered everything, was born as Matsyendranath and gave this yoga to the world!
