Golu when maternal aunt has passed away

Usually for these type of relationship though தீட்டு will be for two or three days, one has to observe துக்கம் till 13th day subasreeharanam. So the celebration may not be done with துக்கம். இன் your case particularly they have taken the father and mother part of your wife it may not be good to perform the celebration this year atleast till 13th day.

My wife's maternal aunt passed away 4 days back. Her aunt and uncle had conducted our marriage since her father was not alive. Can Golu be kept this year. We also keep kalasam for Golu. The 13th day ends on the 7th day of Navratri. So should Golu be kept after that day. Also can we invite ladies for the Vethalai Pakku during the 10 days Or should it be done after 13th day is over.
Ultimately it boils down to what your wife wants.
There can be arguments made for any decision.
1. Death occurred On the maternal side of her family.
There is no relation to YOUR family.
So technically that death is not even a factor, in the function of your family.
so your family can do Gulu.

On the other hand, if she was close to her aunt, and she is grieving, she need not do Golu.

Hindu traditions can be molded any which way you want if you are strong.
