Fraudulent threatening Calls

It seems Fraudulent phone calls threatening arrest and demanding money are received by many Indians residing in US ; This scam is on the rise ;please do not respond to such callers and if possible note down the number and report it Police if repeated calls are received from the same number.

This is only for precaution this thread is posted.

atleast it is not yet like those coming from russia (not yet).

the russian calls, demand money. and if not send, the relatives in russia get a bullet in the head. this is for real btw.

i have heard that ltte used to do the same thing to collect money, in the days when they were a power to reckon with. 10% of an expat salary was expected to fund the operation. and usually young boys or girls at home, on reaching 13 were taken away, never to be seen for a long time - training brainwashing and 'terrorist' activities. one of my girl colleagues talked. most wont. out of fear.

yes, it is more terrorizing when it physical assault is carried out in case the demand is not met; Most calls received here in US has Indian ascent, threatening arrest etc.if money is not paid or agree to pay.

These people are to be treated with caution , hence i posted the the thread; hope it is useful to the members who are in US.
