no fasting prescribed for diwali. diwali is celebration of victory. murder of narakasura, success of noble things over evils, what I have seen in younger days- people take bath early morning, wear new clothes, make temple visits, exchange sweets between friends/relatives, burn crackers etc.
why diwali , brahmins should not take non-veg on any day

If yes, where were you raised?
It is surprising that you are not aware of such basic practice, can you explain it.
