A leading politician from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) has converted to Islam and resigned from his position with the anti-Muslim party, the party has confirmed.

Arthur Wagner, a leading member of the far-right party in Germany's eastern German state of Brandenburg, stepped down for "personal reasons", a party spokesperson confirmed, according to state broadcaster Deutsche Welle.

Wagner, who has been a member of the party since 2015, refused to comment to Tagesspiegel, the daily newspaper that first broke the news of his conversion.

"That's my private business," he told the daily.

On the party's Brandenburg state committee, Wagner's work focused on churches and faith communities, according to Deutsche Welle.

The AfD has campaigned against refugees and migrants and made history when it won 12.6 percent of the vote in federal elections in September 2017, entering the Bundestag for the first time.

The news sparked derision on social media, with many Twitter users pointing to the irony of Wagner converting to Islam after being a high-ranking member of a party that has railed against the presence of Muslims in Germany.

Yad Bhavam Tad Bhavati.

Love and Hate do not differ in the real sense.
Both involve the same amount of expression but in the opposite end of the same spectrum.

When we love or hate something or someone..the mind is focussed on object of love or hatred that love can become hate and hate can become love.

Thats why its best not to love too much otlr hate too much.

Muslim scholar embraces Hinduism

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, April 6 (UNI) — Amid tight security and chanting of mantras, young Muslim scholar Hassan Palakkode and two others, including a woman, today embraced Hinduism at a ceremony held here according to vedic rites.

After the "Ganapati havan" and purification ceremony, the trio, Hassan Palakkode, Akbar and Jama, were formally converted to Hinduism and adopted new names Kamala Hassan, Raju and Uma respectively. The ceremony, organised by the state unit of the Shiv Sena, was held under the leadership of Acharya Yogananda Swami. It was attended by sanyasis from several ashrams.

A large posse of policemen stood guard outside the venue, near the famous Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple, as Hassan, who completed a course to be eligible to become a maulvi, had attracted the wrath of Muslim fundamentalists for writing "secular" articles and questioning polygamy. He is reportedly facing threats to his life after he announced his decision to embrace Hinduism.

While the woman, Jama, is a Christian married to a Hindu, Akbar is Hindu-converted Muslim.

Thirty-year-old Hassan is the first Muslim intellectual in the state to change faith. His adoption of a new name Kamala Hassan evokes memories of a recent high profile conversion in the state-that of noted writer Kamala Das into Surayya.

Mr Hassan said though he had embraced Hinduism, he would never force his parents, wife, children or brothers to change faith. He would try his best to cooperate with them.

Ustad Ali Akbar Khan’s son Aasish returns to ancestral Hindu fold

Kolkata, September 26:
In a rare episode, Aasish Khan, the son of sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, has chosen to accept Hindu religion. Akbar khan has termed his son’s decision as a action to defame the family’s reputation.

Aasish has changed his surname to Debsharma. He claimed that his family is initially Brahmins. His great-grandfather Sadananda Debsharma had started using the title ‘Khan’. He, further, claimed that his family never converted to Islam.
However, Ali Akbar said that his family has been Muslims for generations. His son did a shame and hurting the past generation of our family.

Aasish, who has already changed his surname to Debsharma through an affidavit on August 19, claims his family was never really Muslim. "We were originally Brahmins and used the surname Debsharma. My great-grandfather Sadananda Debsharma took the title of Khan, which is not a surname and is used by Hindus and Christians... due to compulsions. We never converted to Islam."

Conversion if voluntarily done means confusion. One can reject a set of religious beliefs. Going to another set of beliefs means confusion to me.
