Children raped, forced to eat faeces in Maharashtra school

NEW DELHI: The owner and manager of a children's boarding school in Maharashtra have been arrested after five minors said they were raped, forced to watch pornographic films and act them out with one another, police and charity workers said.

The children were made to eat faeces as a punishment if they did not comply.

The 52-year-old owner of the Chandraprabha Charitable Trust and his 30-year-old female manager were arrested on Monday after a police raid on the school in Karjat city.

"We received a police complaint from the Childline charity saying that one child had gone home for the holidays and confessed to his mother that abuses were happening," Karjat's Police Inspector R.R. Patil told the Thomson Reuters Foundation late on Thursday.

"Five children in total have now come forward and we have booked the two suspects under various offences," he said, adding that these included unnatural sex (sodomy), wrongful confinement and sexual assault.

most orphanages , charitable institutions for children and destitute women are run by men of bad reputation. most of them indulge in sodomy , prostitution.. politicians and local thugs patronise them for meeting their physical needs.equally bad are the ashrams and convents run by holy men of dubious backgrounds. sooner these are closed own , better it is for all .these guys are doing more bad than good.

It is reported that this shelter was running illegally at Takre village in Kajrat Taluka, 60 Kms from Mumbai.

How come such residential schools are allowed to function without necessary permission of Authorities concerned?

The crime came to light when one of the inmates informed her mother. She approached the Raigad Child Helpline, which alerted police. Based on the complaint, the local police seems to have initiated action and arrested both the owner and his assistant. They should be dealt with iron hand.
