[Question] Can Brahmanas go to the crematorium for non family

Brahmin community follow lot of superstitions.
You have to definitely go to grave yard, do all help to bereaved family, console them.
Earlier if parents are alive, their children will not go to graveyard. now because of modern education, approach has changed. many children where parents alive also go to graveyard.

no prayaschitham . why required.
do daily sandhyavandanam . enough .

I am a dhvija and a close family friend has passed away. I am going to the funeral but am unsure if we are allowed to go to the graveyard. Are we allowed to go. And if we go is there any prayascitta
As human beings at times our compassion overrides traditional believes.
Its just very normal to give a friend a final send off.

Prayascitta is only for a sin.
A final send off is not a sin.

Actually am a non-brahmin and we are a group of 6 friends were 3 of them are brahmins. We are friends since 5years but now when my friend is totally devastated due to the death of her dearly grandfather and is not coming to college since 10 days non of them want to go and check on her they feel sad for her, they want to console her but not go to her house to check on her, when i took the initiative to ask them whether they want to come along with me to meet and console her, one says family restrictions, the other is out of station and the other wants to come but does not want to fight with her family as they restrict children from going to cremations and think it is auspicious to go to there house, for god sake everyone die one or the other day and another thing is that they are not kids anymore final year law graduates they are. I don't understand something that is if they don't go to cremations then who will go if they die? and here we are not even going to cremation it's already been a week and are going to meet our friend out of pure concern and friendship. I was unable to go to cremation since i didn't get to know of it and they knew about it but non took an effort to text or call me. I heard a story from my elders that a mother of a child who is on a death bed asked god to save him from death and the god said that if she will be able to get salt from a house where not even a single dead occurred she said ok, little did she know that there is no house which hadn't faced death, she visited each of the houses in her village but was not able to get the salt that was the moment that hit hard on her, every person has to face death sooner or later and there is not even a single house that did not face death of people in their family. The god also makes us understand the life cycle but i don't understand these people even though highly educated they are also highly superstitious. Law graduates who are to shape the country are thinking this way then what can we even expect others to think?
