Bhagavad Gita is full of management ideas?

Arjuna got mentally depressed in the battle field when he saw his
relatives with whom he has to fight. (Mental health has become a major
international public health concern now). On the eve of battle Arjuna
is filled with deep misgivings; he feels to kill his relatives and
friends would be a great sin. Lord Krishna says O Arjiuna from where
has this delusion come? How could this delusion come upon a great
person such as you, obstructing the path to heaven? O Arjuna gives up
this faint-heartedness. This kind of mental weakness is unbecoming to
a strong person such as yourself. Shake it off. Arise and fight. (Gita
2-.2&3). Arjuna said that now I am confused about my duty and have
lost all composure because of miserly weakness. In this condition I am
asking You to tell me for certain what is best for me.(Gita 2-7). Now
I am Your disciple, and a soul surrendered unto You. Please instruct
me. Sri Krishna says that you speak like a wise person but grieving
over something, the wise do not grieve for.(Gita.2-11). Furthermore
the death of the body does not harm the soul, as the immortal quote of
the Gita runs. To motivate him the Bhagavad-Gita is preached in the
battle field Kurukshetra by Lord Krishna to Arjuna as counselling to
do his duty while multitudes of men stood by waiting. Arjuna face the
problem of conflict between emotions and intellect. Gitateaches
Honesty, Sincerity, and Truthfulness etc. Gita also shows how
challenge as an opportunity to find the way to success, it only
depends on you and you are your own alchemist.

The Bhagavad-Gita was delivered by Sri Krishna to boost Arjuna’s
declining morale, motivation, confidence and to increase his
(Arjuna’s) effectiveness. The Gita contains the unwritten laws of the
universe. So if you study the same in a logical manner, you will
achieve salvation. But on the other hand if you are a devotee of Lord
Krishna and read it with devotion, you will achieve salvation. So, the
Gita will lead you to God both the intellectual way and the devotional
way.

Today there are innumerable professionals and industrialists who are
great achievers, have great social prestige yet do not enjoy life. On
the other hand, there are many who are contended and happy but are not
achievers. What is needed today is a combination of these two
qualities. One should be a great achiever and at the same time should
live a peaceful life and it can be assured that a study of Gita will
serve all these purposes.

In the storm of life we struggle through myriads of stimuli of

Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu) is the essence of Indian philosophy?

The ancient Indian philosophy of keeping mind and body for the well
being has entered the managerial, medical and judicial domain of the
world. Today it has found its place as an alternative to the theory of
modern management and also as a means to bring back the right path of
peace and prosperity for the human beings. In short, attempts to
explain the nature of the universe, its origins, and what’s really
going on require an understanding of how the observer, our presence,
plays a role. According to the current paradigm, the universe, and the
laws of nature themselves, just popped out of nothingness. The story
goes something like this: From the Big Bang until the present time,
we’ve been incredibly lucky. This good fortune started from the moment
of creation; if the Big Bang had been one-part-in-a-million more
powerful, the cosmos would have rushed out too fast for the galaxies
and stars to have developed. If the gravitational force were decreased
by a hair, stars (including the Sun) wouldn’t have ignited. There are
over 200 physical parameters like this that could have any value but
happen to be exactly right for us to be here. Tweak any of them and
you never existed.

I always feel that the Bhagavad Geeta is a timeless master piece by God for mankind. There will always be a verse to for every situation in life.
Sometimes we will feel as if that particular verse was written just specifically for us to deal with a particular situation.

The BG has this ability to "come alive" just when we need the advise of God the most.

I feel we Hindus should give a damn to who bans what books.
Does it really matter to us?
No one can insult Hinduism by banning the Geeta.
Do we really need a Non Hindu to acknowledge Geeta?
Even Hindus or Ex Hindus themselves find enough fault with Lord Krishna and the Geeta itself so do we really expect a Non Hindu to be any better?

The Geeta is from God itself..even if anyone bans it its still echoing in the Universe..its just that we need to hear it within.

Shri Bhattathiri Sir,

Welcome to this forum. I think you are the first of the Kerala Brahmins to post your views here. Please continue to contribute to the general treasure of knowledge available here.

My doubts are in regard to the portion given above, from your post. Is it necessary to assume that "we've been incredibly lucky right from the Big Bang until the present? Can it not be that all the 200 or so physical parameters are dependent on one another in ways which are yet not fully known to science (and hence it is said that they were "exactly right for us to be here")? Is it not possible, at least in theory, that if one of these parameters had been a hair's beadth different, there could have arisen some living entities somewhere else in the resultant universe? Why should we still cling on to the human-centric vision, just as there was this earth-centric vision of the cosmos a few centuries ago in Europe?

And, even if all these 200 and over parameters were so finely tuned for making "us to be here", where is the evidence that Krishna did so? And, finally what role does our presence as observers plays in the affairs of the universe and how did (could) it function before man evolved on the face of the earth?

I think there is a glitch in the message. In the first case salvation is obtained by studying BG in logical manner (does it mean no devotion needed?) and in the second case salvation (same result) is obtained by reading BG with devotion (is there no requirement of logic in the second case?)
Sir, I think I may be able to offer an explanation be it as a dispassionate and non-believing observer.

The first case of logical study is by way of understanding why and how of obtaining salvation and going ahead and achieving it -- somewhat like an automobile engineer using a car. The second case is a true believer who has full faith that surrendering at the feet of Lord Sri Krishna will result in salvation, to know or understand why and how are not necessary, i.e. no logic is needed, only blind faith.

All this jingoistic chest pounding about BG is similar to the jingoistic chest pounding of Americans about U.S. emotionalism. Much of the message of BG is old wine in a new bottle, particularly from Kapila's Samkhya, a philosophy that denies the very existence Iswara.

Further, there are secular texts like Thirukkural that offers sage advice for every possible life situation one may face, no need to bring a god into it.

Lastly, all religious people make the exact same chest pounding claims about their own text, be it Bible or Kuran -- their text is God's gift to mankind, borne out of his infinite compassion, their text is timeless, their text has all the answers for any question we humans can think of, etc., etc.

Cheers!

indian government should prevail upon russian government to stop this nonsense. will any government in the world be a mum spectator if bible or kuran is banned. at least now we indians should wake up and safeguard our religion

one of the "sage advice" in this "secular text" is this (this is only a sample:there are many such.....):

தெய்வம் தொழாஅள் கொழுனற்றொழுது எழுவாள்

warned about jumping to wrong conclusion. The Russian court has proven my point.
Indian government, did the politically correct thing. They are supposed to represent the Indian sentiment to win votes in India.
From an international diplomacy point they bungled it as usual.

Tomsk court: No grounds to recognise Bhagavad Gita As It Is as extremist literature

A Russian court in the Siberian city of Tomsk on Wednesday dismissed a petition to ban a Russian translation of the Bhagavad Gita.

State prosecutors, who had filed the petition, had branded the text as an "extremist" literaturefull of hatred and insult to non-believers, which promoted social discord.

Tomsk court judge Galina Butenko ruled that there were no grounds to recognise Bhagavad Gita As It Is as extremist literature because it is "one of the interpretations of sacred Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita". The text in question is a Russian translation of the above-mentioned book, authored by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon).

The decision was welcomed by India, where Parliament had been rocked by protests against the case. "We are happy to learn that the legal case in connection with Bhagavad Gita As It Is has been dismissed by the court in Tomsk in the Russian Federation. We appreciate this sensible resolution of a sensitive issue and are glad to put this episode behind us," a ministry of external affairs spokesperson said.
External affairs minister S.M. Krishna had twice spoken to the Russian ambassador in New Delhi, Alexander Kadakin, to convey that the Russian government should provide all possible help to resolve the issue.

this landmark judgement is a victory for india in general and for hinduism in particular. god saved us from embarassment

I am happy the case was settled.
But it is dangerous to link this judgement to INDIA. The court was asked to judge Russian translation of the Bhagavad Gita, and not India. So the results should not be assigned to India. WRONG ASSOCIATION.
If the case would have gone other way, it still does not affect India, even though Indians may have been disappointed.

this landmark judgement is a victory for india in general and for hinduism in particular. god saved us from embarassment
raja, what is so landmarky about this judgment? If this is a victory, it is a victory for Russian freedom of speech, got nothing to with India. You say your god saved you from this embarrassment, but, is it not this same god who put you in this potentially embarrassing position to you in the first place? This god could have chosen to not put you in this position in the first place, but did anyway, some god!!!

To have first viewed this case as an assault against BG or Krishna was embarrassing, but to say god saved you from embarrassment with this judgement is downright pathetic.

Cheers!
