My niece’ (my sister’s daughter) marriage is fixed on 20 November 2026. My cousin (my brother’s son) is expecting a child around the same date. I understand I will get 10 day vruddhi taint (janana theetu) on birth of a child. The question is, if the date of my niece’ marriage and the date of child birth clash, am I supposed to observe restraint and not attend the marriage? Further, I read somewhere that if the child born is male I too get taint along with my brother, but if it is a female child, my brother gets taint as grandfather, but not me. Is it correct understanding of the taint rules?
