Scriptures are not accepted as knowledge by science and are dismissed as dogmas A dogma is something which is not supported by any evidence or proof. So scientific knowledge are not dogma as they should be supported by evidence. But all science is not based on hard evidence. There are "soft" sciences such as psychology, sociology etc. which do not and cannot adhere to the rigors of validating a hypothesis as a hard science such as physics.
Such being the case in soft sciences, they should rightly be categorized as half dogma. But a psychologist or a sociologist is probably is regarded as much a scientist as say, a physicist.
The real problem is some spheres do not lend themselves to the physical testing that can be made in some others. Scriptures which mainly deal with moral and spiritual issues are definitely not amenable to physical proofs. It works at the mental level.
But still it is a very legitimate knowledge and to my mind more authoratative than the scientific one as it is obtained through a more advanced process of profound intuition. Since that talent is very very rare obviously, those who do not possess them have to go by the word of those who could grasp such knowledge or in the words of the scientific community, go by such dogma.
To illuminate the difficulty in testing real leaps of imagination even in the case of science, take Einstein, a scientist who propounded the theory of relativity. It is regarded as a very profound theory but Einstein could not receive a nobel prize for it because it is not regarded as being supported by evidence to the extent required by a scientific theory. Till now it has not been recognized with a nobel prize.
In my opinion to dismiss scriptural knowledge as dogma just because it doesn't have physical evidence is a very shallow way of judging knowledge
