An analysis of recent Parliamentary Election results:

Every one writes and then why not me too. I have done that according to my lights.

First of all it is Modi wave which has swept through the North. After a decade BJP has been returned to power. On a second thought it is difficult to call it Modi wave. There were no credentials for the wave but the “Gujarat Model” was pushed to create the Modi wave. What is Gujarat Model has not been explicitly described or analysed. Congress was apprehensive of their decline but BJP had a moment of skepticism too.

Somebody had said that writers and commentators become intelligent after the event. But the exit polls debunk the election by secret ballots. This is also imported from the west. It is like vendors giving you vegetables plucked out before time or fruits plucked even before they start to ripe. You know it is a fast world.

1. Instead of calling it a Modi wave, it should be right to say that tsunami hit and swept out the congress. The colossal corruption and scams only did the congress in. I strongly doubt there is no corruption in Gujarat and elsewhere. BJP should thank congress and its coalition partners for the bonanza.

2. See the individual casualties. DMK lost, in UP elephant went to sleep and Mulayam has been turned to rigidity. Subtle work of divide and pit-one-against-the-other strategy by Modi worked. It is also a technique of the CIA. In this country the divide and rule had always worked and it will work in varying degrees.
3.

4. In spite of wide spread corruption and inefficiency in administration confounded by coalition pressure, the top leadership or coterie sat complacent just shaking their thighs as if every thing was going right for them. They reminded Hitler’s officers during the close of WWII. They were just as arrogant as Hitler. No explanation nor any apology was forthcoming. They never listened to Indians but listened to blabbers of the coterie.

5. People realized the ills of coalition government and almost all the coalition partners therefore suffered. Perhaps that is why people swept BJP to absolute power thinking that BJP is not as fragile as the congress. DMK can be happy now nothing to contend for. Everybody must be healing the wounds inflicted by their own actions.

6. Here in this part of India some known persons were trounced. Praful Patel, who almost hived off AI to hawks, etc. lost because of their association with Maharashtra’s strong man. He was believed to be behind the exorbitant price increases in food grains and other agricultural products. Onion price touched moon and mars. But he has always been the state’s strong man tacitly accepted by ALL within. Praful Patel was rumoured to negotiate between NCP and Modi. In all elections people have always marked out certain people and this election is no exception. Prithviraj Chavan was installed to stem the cascading corruption and he was over cautious and tripped the congress.

7. Ruling the self-developing Gujarat is one thing but ruling India is quite another. It is a huge and complex task. People from congress called him chhaiwalla that would not have hurt him. But he should be careful not to give a chance to his own supporters to call him chaiwalla. If he does not give them a chance, the voters will call him a chaiwalla. It is a tight rope walk. Let us see how he does. In none of the pre-election meetings he had said that he had a magic wand.

8. The CMS of WB, Odisha and TN held their grounds where the wave did not work. Thanks to AKA and Chandi Kerala has a different picture. Here the mixture of secularism and communalism might have worked. In national politics UP plays a major role and Kerala the opposite.

9. Younger voters have also made their choice and showed their anathema for old and their perception of knowledge.
