Alternative to coronary by-pass surgery

Status
Not open for further replies.
Namuskarum,
Chelation an alopathic procedure is widely practiced in Europe and of late in India as an alternative treatment to heart blood vessel shrinkage and block. It is a simple surprisingly affordable day care treatment which may require around 30 or so sittings depending upon the gravity of the disease and one can feel the positive progress during the course of treatment.Though many of the alopatic medicos disagree with this arterial scavenging treatment for the simple reason that it by passes the expensive coronary by pass surgery. With confidence and good will iam posting it as I myself under went the treatment and experienced the goodness.
With Love and affection
Dr.A.parthasarathi.B.v.Sc

Mr. Parthasarathi,
I am sure you mean well, and you probably believe it. I do not faith in alternative medicine when you have a life and death situation. I believe in traditional, and proven practice. Do not play with fire, it can burn you.

Chelation Therapy:Unproven Claims and Unsound Theories

Saul Green, Ph.D.
Proponents claim that chelation therapy is effective against atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and peripheral vascular disease. Its supposed benefits include increased collateral blood circulation; decreased blood viscosity; improved cell membrane function; improved intracellular organelle function; decreased arterial vasospasm; decreased free radical formation; inhibition of the aging process; reversal of atherosclerosis; decrease in angina; reversal of gangrene; improvement of skin color, healing of diabetic ulcers. Proponents also claim that chelation is effective against arthritis; multiple sclerosis; Parkinson's disease; psoriasis; Alzheimer's disease; and problems with vision, hearing, smell, muscle coordination, and sexual potency. None of these claimed benefits has been demonstrated by well-designed clinical trials.

In a retrospective study of 2,870 patients treated with NaMgEDTA, Olszewer and Carter (1989) concluded that EDTA chelation therapy benefited patients with cardiac disease, peripheral vascular disease and cerebrovascular disease. These conclusions were not justified because the people who received the treatment were not compared to people who did not.

In 1990, these authors carried out a "double-blind study" in which EDTA chelation was used to treat ten patients with peripheral vascular disease. The authors claimed that this was the first such study. The patients' progress was evaluated by measuring changes in their blood pressure and their performance in exercise stress tests before, during, and after the course of treatment. The authors claimed that EDTA had a significant impact on the patients' clinical status because the removal of calcium, copper and zinc from the vascular compartment corrected cholesterol and lipoprotein metabolism; triggered a parathyroid response that pulled calcium from the bones; decreased platelet aggregation; lessened iron-generated free radical formation; reduced membrane lipid peroxidation; decreased plaque formation; and prevented intracellular calcium accumulation.

Between 1963 and 1985, independent physicians published at least fifteen separate reports documenting the case histories of more than seventy patients who had received chelation treatments. They found no evidence of change in the atherosclerotic disease process, no decrease in the size of atherosclerotic plaques, and no evidence that narrowed arteries opened wider."

Chelation Therapy: Unproven Claims and Unsound Theories

As long as you are physically healthy, and your problem are psycho-semantic any medicine will seem to work. If you have a proven case of arterial clogging, get a real cure from a real doctor.

Hi,
The response was in expected lines.MrGree:s write up is like the tamil punch VAARUM AANAL VARAATHU.As I said it is an alopathic treatment , an alternative to BPS and not an alternate remedy advocated by quakes. The treatment is being done by alopathic cardiologist. There are so many theories for and against chelation but what I shared is my own experience for about a decade.

is absolutely correct.but one of my colleague's father aged 80 who is afraid of major bye-pass surgery is under going treatment in nagercoil .my friend says it is serving the purpose of controlling the ailment of heart problem

My contention is that it is not a proven remedy. It may seem to manage or give comfort to the patient, and that is all that you need it may be ok. Not treating but give some mild sedative might be a cheaper alternative. Some times the experimental drugs only enriches the doctors and hospitals and does absolutely nothing for the patient.

26/11 braveheart left to fend for himself - J. Gopikrishnan

Sometimes the government is stupid; in this case the armed forces are stupid. Antony can get his ayurvedic expenses reimbursed, hotel oberoi terror attack victim, Manesh, cannot get his ayurvedic treatemnt bills reimbursed; he was wheel chair bound with a sharpnel in his head, but can now walk short distances after the ayurvedic treatment.

"
Though paralysed and left wheelchair-bound in his selfless service to the
nation while saving the lives of 40 persons from Hotel Oberoi during the
Mumbai terror attacks, NSG commando and Shaurya Chakra awardee PV Manesh will now have to foot the expenses of his Ayurvedic treatment on his own. And the treatment will continue lifelong.

"An unmoved Army Headquarters has categorically informed the Delhi High
Court that except allopathy, the forces could not consider reimbursement
for treatment under any other medicinal systems, since they could not bend
the stringent medical audit rules of the forces.

"
Defence Minister AK Antony has been using the Ayurvedic
system of medicine for the past 15 years and undergoes regular annual
treatment for his spondylitis-related problems.

"
The Bench also reminded the Government and Forces about the Central
Government’s National Policy on Indian System of Medicines and
Homeopathy-2002. Observing that all Central Government employees are
eligible for reimbursement under other systems of medicines, the bench
asked why this policy had not been implemented in the Armed forces and
directed the Government and all the Service chiefs to reply within three
months.

Mr. Sarang,
I understand your point, and I sympathise with Mr. Manesh.
I also understand that written policies and practice of armed forces is rigid and difficult to adapt.
But for the sake of argument let us say that you want to pay a witch doctor thousands of rupees to remove the bad luck of a person. And that patient claims that it has cured him of all his psychological ailments. Would you recommend that tax payer money be paid to the wich doctor?
Sometimes rules are made to protect the patient and the tax payers. An organization can never be so nimble as to cater to every exception. I think we are sometimes unreasonable.
By the way have you ever found the government, the army, or the police to do good work? sometimes we forget that we live in a democracy and the government is we the people.

dear prasad !
nice opinion.but can we not see exception ? and relax rule for such extraordinary persons .we are awarding titles to martyrs and why not to living heros.we people are government !! are we here only to feel like Sri .Sarang?

The government is following a sort of varna dharma here! Defence minister antony can claim for ayurvedic treatment - govt rules permit that; but the poor guy cannot have it despite getting the treatment from a reputed vaidyasala; murasoli maran ran upto a medical bill of 5 crores in US, paid by the indian (vajpayee) government. All non allopathic vaidyas cannot be blackened as witch doctors. All indian systems of medicine must get the same treatment as allopathy. Every system has got its strong and weak points. Blind belief in allopathy is also a form of mooda nambikkai.

Now, the ayurvedic hospital is charging him only for the medicines; their services are free.

I can see the exception, and may be the administrator also see it.
But to post it here, as if it should be accepted as normal is misleading. The administrator must have his reason, here we do not know his position. We are asked to give our opinion purely on one side of the argument.

Going back to experimental, and unproven techniques, any body is welcome as long as you understand the consequence and you pay for it from your own pocket.

Actual expense on Kasab could be around Rs 50 crore

Unfortunately manesh was on the wrong side. The govt. has spent about Rs 50 crores to keep kasab alive, well fed a and healthy. A batch three cooks prepared his daily biriyani, a team of specialist doctors for daily health check up. Who is the bearing the cost, the tax payer.

Perpetrator of the crime is getting heavenly treatment, but the unfortunate injured victim, manesh, is denied traditional treatment.

"But a day later, if top police brass and bureaucrats associated with the case are to be believed, it transpires that a whopping Rs 48.75 crore has been expended on the jailed Pakistani terrorist who is the main accused in the deadly terror attack on Mumbai on November 26, 2008.

"
In addition, the official said the home department was spending a substantial amount on food and medicine for Kasab (the home department claimed on Monday that it cost only Rs 25 a day to feed Kasab). "In view of his poor health, a team of specialist doctors is examining him on a daily basis. We have ensured that he maintains good health,'' he said.

dear sarang !
please do not make us bleeding by posting such information.when the govt. spend a lot to save a man to be hanged for his heinous act ,many budding young talented children are dieing for wantof medical care .we appreciate a person after his death.and not even a single consoling word uttered to that man during his life time. a top ranking student could not get admission to institution he prefer, but an average should get it because of the so called reservation on social justice.

Mr Sarang

you have taken an untenable example of witch doctor. here we should talk about so many qualified alternate medicine doctors who got their degrees from well recognized govt or reputed institutions. Dept of AYUSH is there to monitor such alternate medicinal doctors and programmes. Govt is defying its own commitment here

witch doctor? who? Not clear! Are doctors without degrees witches?

Sir,
There are divided opinions about the efiicacy of chelation theraphy. Some say
they are feeling better, but it is still not conclusively proved.

By the way, Sir Lionel Pauling, two-time (unshared ) winner of Nobel price
advocated intake of heavy dose of Vitamin C and he himself was taking it.
He died at the age of 94.He said that it is not deposit of cholestrol but scurvy
and a high dose of vit.C washes it out. But the cardiologists worldwide have
not accepted his theory.

Sri Guruvayurappan,

You are right. Vitamin C is a good anti-oxidant. Vested parties would not like
you to take herbs and natural foods which will avoid diseases.

There is one ayurvedic drug called Tripala churna. It contains terminalia chebula,
a powerful anti-oxidant which will prevent cancer. It also contains amla, vit.C.
Swami Sivananda has recommended this for brushing the teeth.

I have found this effective.
