Nice idea. But why black?
Navy blue would have been a better choice!
Any dark colored coat may get CHALK mark since most teachers use them.
Why not wear White Color Coat ?

generally white coat ceremony ONLY FOR DOCTORS....there is ceremony called WHITE COAT CEREMONY for first yr MD students
in USA...i attended my daughter's white coat ceremony.....ITS BIG CEREMONY.....so white for doctors...black for lawyers...
navy blue for airhostess of some airlines....may be some other light color..
