Yes, it is parents discretion to decide in the interest of their children's education.

The hard working bread winner of the family also needs some entertainment in his life, he also needs to relax for a while from his monotonous routine stereotype life. A change is inevitable. Some prefer the cheap entertainment to enjoy life sitting in the living room. This gives him required enough energy to charge his diminishing spirit.

A family don't consists not only youngsters but also elders, aged parents, etc and their interest, preference also needs to be given some consideration. Of course, there may be few who may argue that such parents needs to compromise their habits, interests, etc during this season.

I know in most of the families, come April, they unsubscribe for cable connected and enforce ban on watching TV during Exam season.

I don't know how this works out.

But I can say one thing, that in TV programmes, majority serials are rubbish with themes that poisons the mind of viewers. Standard of TV serial themes are going down.

Besides, children also are engaged from dawn to dusk in learning. It is education that dominates their whole day without any diversion. They are sent to innumerable tuition. One can see each student feeling tired and fatigue while returning back home. They are pushed to attend tuition on subject they are bit weak. Such students have absolutely no time to view TVs or any programme.

And our Education system is so dominated by 'mug up culture' and children are required to mug up portions of texts to score more marks and thus qualify for higher studies.

There are Advantages and Disadvantages.....
