அவள் மலர்ப் பதம் பணிவோம்;
அவள் அருள் வேண்டி இத்தொடரில்.

ஐங்கரனும், ஆறுமுகனும் ஆகிய இரு
கண்மணிகளை வணங்கிய பின்னர்.

உங்கள் உண்மையுள்ள,
விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

How can I get a copy of your blog ;sanskrit to tamil dictionary
which I want to keep for a handy reference? can you help me?
Here is the one created created by Mrs. Visalakshi Ramani https://sanskrittotamil.wordpress.com/

You can search that dictionary using this link (I did it as a possible help) https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=004052035183991969720:0uilf_ytjf8 (You can type a word in Tamil and you get possible list of pages in Sanskirt containing that word e.g. மாணவன் )

Sorry for the delay in replying. I needed a visit to the Emergency Room once again during the last week - for the splitting head ache (mAya rOgam?) and revolting eruptive tummy. After 5 days of convalescence,
I am back in working condition today!

My father presented in 1980 a Lifco Dictionary to my sons who were then learning Sanskrit as the Third Language. The exhaustive book gives the meaning of tens of thousands of Sanskrit words in English, Tamil and Hindi.

I have no idea whether it is still available or not. I just selected about 4000 most commonly used ( and also commonly wrongly used ) Sanskrit words and complied them - for people who want to know what they are talking when they talk.

You may find the links to all my 70 + blogs in my website http://visalakshiramani.weebly.com/
Welcome to my website 🙏
Very nice of you to have taken the trouble and replying me.
I was looking for a reference point to unlock the content of
many day today slokas and divine mantras we recite at home. You will appreciate that gives one more satisfaction than reciting them blindly.
Take care.
Words form the basic tools for any writer.

Words convey meanings as well as emotions.

Words are borrowed as well lent by languages.

Words often fuse together to form new words.

Words have interesting tales hidden behind them.

Words can be picturesque, descriptive, rhyming or poetic.

The components of some words appear to be contradicting.

Some words appear to be the wrong names for the right things.

We shall explore the wonderful world of words now.

I forgot to post the introduction to the blog! Here it is now!

Human beings may look different! The color of their skin may differ. The color of their eyes and hair may vary. Their features may be as varied as is theoretically possible. They may dress differently and speak different languages.

But despite all these differences, the human mind works exactly in the same way - whatever be the nationality, language, customs, traditions, religion and beliefs of the individuals.

So it is small wonder that we find the same ideas being conveyed through the proverbs in different languages.

Here is a comparative study of the parallel proverbs in Tamil and English.

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 5,600 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 9 years to get that many views.
Naughty Poems

Poems woven from rhyming words.

Naughty poems long and short

Time is supposed to e a continuous stream flowing eternally. This is what supports the concept of time travel back to the past or to the future.

At times working backwards is easier than working in the forward direction. When unable to find the way to the center of a maze, we work backwards. It is much more easier to come out of the maze - if we start from the center.

This is a similar attempt in writing simple English poetry. Instead of starting with a theme and going searching for words which rhyme perfectly, I did the converse.

I got all the rhyming words and tried to weave them into a poem - with a rational and acceptable theme - to the best of my ability.

These poems are naughty - not because of their theme - but since they were made differently. These poems had to be long or short - depending on the number or rhyming words at my disposal.

Some of the poems are really good and some are little weird. Since it is an experiment, I request you to enter the blog with a lenient and open mind and try to enjoy my logical and mathematical creations.

We are supposed to “say it with flowers”!

But do we know that each flower stands for some emotion or feeling?

With a little background knowledge, we say say what we wanted to say perfectly
with the flowers, without uttering a word.

So now to the flowers and their significance…

Women have always wished to decorate themselves to enhance their beauty.
Precious and noble metals are used in making ornaments for men and women.
Their beauty becomes more when precious and semi precious gems are studded.

Even those who can not afford platinum or gold or silver and the costly gemstones
manage to decorate themselves with colorful beads and sparkling crystals and minerals.

Now that wearing heavy golden ornaments literally endangers the life of the wearer, ladies of all ages have started wearing crystals of all colors, designs and shapes - matching their costume color.

This blog explores the precious and semi precious gemstones obtained from the crystals.
