I have a rather complex and difficult matter. My son is caucasian and my to be daughter-in-law is Tamil Brahmin. They plan to wed within the month. I want to be respectful and follow all the social graces.....therefore, would appreciate enlightenment.

I gather he wants to know what is the protocol to make this happen smoothly, he perhaps want to do anything that is right for his future daughter in law, perhaps giving her a gift while inviting to the family, My second SIL's mom called me to find out rituals, so I just gave her a simple answer, if you like you can gift her a sari and whatever you like for previous day of the wedding, with my help, she got my daughter a sari and that was the end, of course when it came to rituals or the norm we have to take care, I mean the girls parents, I am sure they are already doing that.. just my two cents..
