One more narrow minded approach by the Indian courts.

I know, porn can be very relaxing to the mind. I have recommended to watch porn in some instances.

To say the police "found porn down loaded in the cell phones" of the rapist is quite lame.

There is a very clear evidence to show violence have erupted after afternoon prayer, not only in India but other parts of the world.

Would the lawmakers ban such prayers, religion based get-together ?

The playing field:

There has been eroticism in the society since very ancient times. If it is porn clips streaming in in internet these days, it was sculptures, Kamasutra explaining the 46 postures/positions, the Kochupusthakams of Kerala, or famished poets singing the praise of Venkatesu Rettappan, a local chieftain in Tamilnadu with pun and double-meaning filled Siledai(சிலேடை) poetry in those days. A normal matured mind as well as a depraved mind gets titillation reading /seeing these materials. A normal mind goes for gratification within the four walls of the culture and values by courting and mating whereas a depraved mind goes for violent physical subjugation to satisfy itself. Culture, society, values acquired during the life, family circumstances etc., have a major role in determining the level of depravity. The easy and free availability of internet/porn films has increased the chances of a depraved mind getting repeated opportunities to view them. This is a development of modern times. Added to this the economic transformation has released women from the rasoi and household chores to a great extent. We see more and more of them in the work place. This has resulted in easily pickable targets available for depraved minds.

The subject:

The subject is the "I" - the person with a depraved mind. He has suffered many deficiencies in his path of growth. He has perhaps seen women in the family being treated extremely badly. An alcoholic treating everyone in the family as just animals. Making the women aware every moment about their physical weakness and economic dependence. He has grown up with depravity. Time never stops and so he has now become a man, may be muscular and strong in body with every endocrinol gland doing its duty perfectly and in time. Now he is like an animal on the prowl. Looking only for a prey and not a mate or partner. At the first opportunity he pounces on the weak and helpless prey and satisfies his physical and mental hunger. This person is a danger to the society because his behavior is deviant. He disturbs the civilization's day to day life and so deserves to be contained and curtailed.

Now for other normal subjects the problem is how do we avoid people from amongst us becoming such dangerous creatures. The society has many systems in place to avoid people becoming such dangerous creatures. We have moral code, ethics and religion which strictly prohibits such deviant behavior. Alcoholism, enslaving women, physical violence of any form etc., are strictly a no no under these moral laws of religion and community. We have a law enforcing system to take care of deviant behavior whenever it occurs despite these moral laws (dharmic) and self enforced discipline. The society should encourage self restraint and discipline with the help of the moral laws and religion. The society should prevent maltreatment of women in families. Battered women should become a privileged complainant for the judicial system. Rapist should be hanged without mercy after a summary trial.

The object:

The women. These days they have to move about in the society at odd hours because of their work. They should dress conservatively. This is not to give up their rights to enjoy. They can dress provocatively when they go to parties with friends. But when going to work it would be in their interest to dress conservatively. They may take a few self protection measures like carrying a canister of pepper spray, a knife to use in case of extreme emergency, a phone which has a facility to send alarm to a remote number at the touch of a button. They should voluntarily accept a prescription not to tease a depraved mind by being explicit about sensitive matters.

the playing field is large for subjects to hit sixers in metros like delhi
the subject is not deterred by moral code or religion or laws and policing.
the objects cannot be expected to dress better in order to protect themselves from subjects, they have equal rights and subjects cannot set terms to them. then we will have muthaliks and ramsene chasing the subjects out of pubs .taking a few protective measures against superior physical forces can provide a feeling of safety and not help much in actual reality. like we barricade houses with locks or more steel to protect from thieves. they are really no protection from theft

You are right and hence the Supreme Court has issued notice to the Government.

Delhi was described by a Member of this forum as a capital of rape crimes. But definitely this should not be case when Delhi was ruled by Mauryas, Mughals and subsequently by the British.

The temples were there and sculptures were also there, but cases of gang rape should not have been reported then, bcos there was no internet connection i.e. free access to pornography, besides execution by elephant was the common method of capital punishment awarded during Mughals period.

I have to say this - After drinking a bottle of whiskey ( with proper side dish and good food. Since the whiskey is offered, so would be the side dish and food too), chances are one would just go to sleep. After a bottle of whiskey he can't stand up, nothing stands up, he goes to sleep.

It is true, it is the state of the mind that makes the difference.

The worst I have noticed, after watching a hot porn, many times one would help himself to relieve. Can't even complete the movie.

If the persons already decided to rape, found and captured the victim, then it is a different cup of tea. Porn movie or not, the raping would take place. Blaming the porn movie is lame.

A large part of the world drink.

There are criminals that may blame bottle of whisky for their behaviour and a group Bollywood and Tamil movies that may want to portray a loser driven to commit violence after drinking.

There are also stories made to teach some connection.

Yes, abilities are impaired when one drinks beyond a limit and that to in an addictive manner. Watching porn repeatedly can create a delusional view of the world. These are not healthy behaviour for individual or the society around them.

But unless a person has in them to commit acts of violence for whatever reason they are unable to do so.

Western world that collects statistics estimates at least 9 percent watchers of porn are women and this number has tripled in the last few years. Besides there are other studies and polls that put this number at a much higher number. All those people do not go around commiiting acts of violence.

I personally do not drink, no one in my family drinks and we do not care to delude ouselves. Same with porn which I think is often the product of deep exploitation.

My point here is that human beings likes to pass 'moral judgement' on others - Often I have found those that are most judgemental of others are the most corrupt in their thinking and in their personal life.

Let those who want to drink may do so, and if they do not cause harm to others then it is their life. If they cause harm to others regardless of reason they need to be dealt with full power of law.

Most results depend on how a question is asked. Also during telephone interviews people do not reveal their 'true nature' and results are skewed.

Recently I read a news item in one National English Newspaper how a young unmarried Engineering graduate Hindu girl(employed)in Trivandrum got attracted to another guy in Palakkad through Mobile Chat.
The person who was duping the young girl is an aged person around 65 years following another Faith.He was sending the girl a good looking young man's photo to the Girl.
One day she wanted to meet that guy in a surprise manner.After reaching the town of the guy,she called his mobile phone,but did not get any response.She was found wandering in the town and came under
police scrutiny.When taken to the police station,she gave her version and police brought the guy to the police station.On seeing him,she was shocked and fell down unconscious.
The police took her to local govt hospital,called her parents to the town and sent the Girl with her parents.It was not mentioned whether any action was taken against the Guy.
