Why Tamil Nadu tops the country in suicides

It begs an important question - Do all the suicides in Southern states are that of the people belonging to the native state?

It is sad to note that the number of suicides are increasing and TN tops the position. Interestingly, Most people who commit suicide don't want to die; they just want to stop hurting or trying to move away from sufferings. In short, it can be attributed to psychological imbalance in terms of mental maturity. The factors contributing to it are: the way he/she has been brought up, bad support circle, etc.

Suicide is a cowardice act and desperate attempt to escape suffering; a suicidal person can't see any way of finding relief except through death - which is incorrect. But despite their desire for the pain to stop, most suicidal people are deeply conflicted about ending their own lives without looking for alternate paths.

Normally, elders educate the younger ones with stories relating to positive energy / positive attitude nurturing them to have strength in will power, courage and situation handling. In today's scenario, with parents going for work, at times it makes children to spend their time in bad association OR with social media networks which influences them on the material facts.

It is highly recommended to educate them at every level in making the mind prepared for handling situations. With conservative mentality high in south, we normally tell more DON'Ts rather than DOs. It would be the best to tell them on DOs or right way of doing.

While we are taking pride in saying "It is good to DIE for Country" - it seems few forget the next statement "Its GREAT to Work for its PROGRESS". We need to highlight the positive side of life on what can be achieved with ones own strength - this will help in preventing suicides drastically.
