Vedasya thathvam (Dedication to mahaperiyava on his 130th Jayanti)

mahAperiyava says "Vedic tattvam is more clearly communicated in tamil. Vedas are called 'marai', which means hidden. They are called 'ezhuthaa kilavi' which means 'unwritten verses'. Such words are not present in saMskrt. Lord Shiva is called the 'embodiment of vedas' in tamil. Removing 'ee' sound in 'shI', it becomes shava, which means dead. 'ee' sound indicates feminity without which shiva is not complete. In tamil language, 'ee' originally had 3 dots which indicated tirkona-bindu, from which sri-chakra came. Not just Indian feminine divinities, all over the world, feminine names ending with 'ee' sound is common. Thus 'ee' sound in 'shiva' indicates shakti, the ambal, who is called the mother of vedas (veda mAtA). As vedas are verily the goddess shakti, part of Shiva, shiva is called embodiment of vedas in tamil. They are like energy and matter."

mahAperiyava said, protecting and transferring Vedic scriptures is essential to all humanity to realize its oneness, as we get better understanding of Vedic scriptures in future. We do not understand them now does not mean in future someone will not understand them. The brahmin jAti (not the brahman varNa) was formed only with the goal of reciting and passing on vedic literature and if they do not do that, we do not need that jAti. That jAti was not formed to claim superiority over others. In fact if preservation of vedic heritage is not done by brahmins, nobody requires them in any place.

When washerman, potter, blacksmith, goldsmith leave a village, people of that village suffer. But if a brahmin who is not into preservation of vedic literature leave the village, what do they lose..? Nothing.

Even religions like Christianity and Islam have their origins in vedic literature. Ad-am of bible is Ad-ma of vedic origin and eve in bible is jIva in vedic origin. As people moved away from the vedic heritage due to various reasons, they lost touch with their vedic origins and these got transformed into Adam and Eve. Hence preserving and reciting vedic literature and research on them should lead to understanding of the oneness of humanity.

Vedic scriptures represent the 'Adi Thathvam'. Though we do not know fully what all is contained in them, we need to protect them and transfer it to future generations, so that they may be able to understand it. Books can get destroyed, but when vedas are transmitted through recitation and hearing, they last till humans last. In some future, we will realize the oneness of all religions & humanity, through better Vedic understanding. Hence this is a need of all humanity and not our religions."
