I think the ragam is Revathi.Any correction ?
Dear Sir,

Sorry for the late reply! Actually the full song is set as a RAgamAlikai but in this video only first of three stanzas is sung.

It is set to Sivaranjani rAgam.

Here is the full song in three rAgams viz. Sivaranjani, KApi and Sindhubairavi.

Kurai ondrum illai - M S S

.... Thank you very much for your kind clarification.I got confused between Sivaranjani and Revathi ragas.
Dear Sir,

The confusion is natural because if we take Ri of Sivaranjani as AdhAra sruthi, we get Revathi.

You can understand it better if you see the number of notes between each swaram of Sivaranjani.

S (R1) R2 G1 (G2) (M1) (M2) P (D1) D2 (N1) (N2) S' where swarams within brackets are NOT in the rAgam.

Hence we get the gaps between swarams of Sivaranjani as

S - R G - - - P - D - - S' - R' taking up to higher octave Ri.

When R G - - - P - D - - S' - R' of Sivaranjani are taken and change Ri as AdhAra Sruthi ( Sa ),

we get S R - - - M - P - - N - S' which is Revathi.

This is known as Sruthi bEdham.

Dear Madam

Thanks a lot for your scholarly explanation on the subtle difference between Sivaranjani and Revathi ragams. Being a gnanasunyam I can only understand and appreciate the difference only if I hear some one sings and demonstrates the Sruthi bedham.
