In a major nationwide swoop ahead of Republic Day, the NIA has arrested 13 suspected ISIS sympathisers for plotting attacks in different parts of the country intended to target foreign tourists and policemen.

The NIA had picked a total of 14 people on Friday. Of the 14 suspects detained on Friday, 13 have been arrested, a home ministry official told TOI.

The busted module, comprising former operatives of jihadi outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) -- who have switched allegiance to the Islamic State -- calls itself 'Janood-ul-Khalifa-e-Hind'. It was planning to procure weapons and explosives for its strikes, according to a home ministry spokesperson.

Janood's alleged head, computer programmer Mudabbir Mushtaq Shaikh from Mumbra near Mumbai, is among those arrested.

The terror plot, uncovered just days after Delhi Police busted another ISIS-inspired module in Uttarakhand, marked another step in the transformation of ISIS from just a potential threat to a serious security challenge for India.

Thanks to the good work of NIA.

For most part the family members of those arrested may have been in the dark, and should not be prosecuted, but society must take action unless they come out against such perpetrators.
If these alleged criminals had such terrorist motives, we as society must take social action (not take police action).

In India, over 1,000 Muslim leaders and scholars have sanctioned a religious ruling, or fatwa, against the Islamic State as contrary to the true teachings of Islam.
The group, which met in recent days to discuss and search out new strategies to “protect the image” of a moderate Islam, has forcefully condemned religious extremism and the violent attacks perpetrated by ISIS militants.
Mumbai-based Islamic jurist Manzar Hasan Khan Ashrafi Misbahi drafted the fatwa earlier this week, with numerous Muslim groups and leaders signing on. The declaration denounced Islamic State’s religious vision and activities as “un-Islamic and inhuman” and said that its practices showed it had “no relation with Islam.”
In the declaration, the leaders expressed “deep concern about the spread of extremist propaganda” that is likely to spread like wildfire.
In the state of Kerala, a Muslim group called Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM) also launched a campaign, focusing on social media platforms, against Islamic State ideology that is spreading fast among Muslim youth.

In New Delhi, in certain strategic areas, Govt officials are instructed to leave by closing their offices by 1 P.M. on 25.01.2016.
Military will be taking over the control of the areas. Nobody could enter the areas under the pretext going to offices.
All precautionary measures are taken by the armed forces.
