Teleportation Miracles in Hindu scriptures

What is teleportation?

Teleport: move by telekinesis; Teleportation: A hypothetical method of transportation in which matter or information is dematerialized, usually instantaneously, at one point and recreated at another.

We read lot about it in science fiction stories and television serials. Devotees of Hindu saints are very familiar with this miracle even before western science fiction stories were published. Lord Krishna had done it many times according to Bhagavatham (Sanskrit book on Lord Krishna’s life history). Krishna appeared at hundreds of places with the Gopika girls. When his class mate Sudama met him on a friendly visit, Krishna transferred lot of wealth, building and dresses through telekinesis.

Sudhama was a poor Brahmin suffering from acute poverty. When his wife persuaded him to go to Krishna who has become a King of Gujarat (Dwaraka), poor Sudama (also known as Kuchela) took some pounded rice in a rag. When Krishna tasted it Sudama’s hut became a palace, his children’s rags became costly dress. Rukmini stopped Krishna from eating anymore of the pounded rice flakes from the rags. She feared every hand full of it in Krishna’s mouth transferred millions of Rupees!to Kuchela. Such is the power of true friendship.

In the recent years, a lot of teleportation was reported in the lives of Sathya Sai Baba devotees. But non believers rejected them as reports lacking any evidence.

Sundarar’s Magic

Sundarar was one of the great Four Saivaite saints of Tamil Nadu. He lived in 8[SUP]th[/SUP] century AD. Like other three saints he also did several miracles. One of the miracles involves teleportation. Sundarar was empty handed when he went to Vriddhachalam temple near Chennai. He was always generous in asking, in fact demanding. He never acted like a beggar while he was begging. He sought only gold whenever he prayed for money. Knowing his status Shiva was also generous in giving. When Sundarar prayed for gold coins Shiva gave him 12,000 gold coins. Money always comes with problems. How to carry such a big load safely? was Sundarar’s worry. His home town Tiruvarur is not nearby. Again he went to Shiva for a solution. He told him to throw them in to the river Manimutharu and collect them at the Kamalalayam Tank in Tiruvarur temple! If it was hard earned money Sundarar would have hesitated, but it was money that came easily. So he left them in the river and went to Tiruvarur.

Sundarar told his wife Paravai that he was going to collect the coins from the local temple tank at Tiruvarur and asked her to accompany him. She would have thought that Sundarar had gone mad. But yet like a faithful wife, she followed him with lot of doubts in her mind. Sundarar stood on the banks of the vast tank (biggest temple tank in Tamil Nadu) and started singing poems praising Lord Shiva. Surprise! Surprise! All the 12,000 coins came out intact as if they were minted under the tank!

Vridhachalam also known as Tirumudukundram is situated between Chennai and Trichy very near Viluppuram.

Transmutation Miracles

What is transmutation?

Changing of base metals into gold; changing of one material into another.
Sundarar was credited with one more miracle. When he went to Tiruppugalur he needed money. When he prayed for money Lord Shiva, the presiding deity in the temple, did not answer his prayers. Tired he was, both mentally and physically, slept in the temple front hall itself. But in a hurry, he made a pillow out of bricks that he found nearby. When he woke up, all the bricks under his head were gold bricks! Again he went into the temple and thanked Shiva whole heartedly. He sang a decad in praise of Shiva.

Transmutaion of base metals into gold was done by several Siddhas. Whenever devotees fell short of money for personal care or public work, their Gurus simply transmuted rocks and bricks into gold. Vidyaranya was given tons of gold by goddess and he established the Vijayanagara empire with that wealth.

In telekinesis the object moved can be seen as moving.
But did anyone actually the palatial house, and the riches
being transferred from Krishna's palace to Kuchela's place?
Teleportation is disappearing in one place and reappearing in another place.
Krishna appeared to the Gopis at the same time in different places.
Later on Krishna is supposed to marry 16008 girls
and beget ten sons out of each of them and live happily
with everyone of those girls at the same time.
dear Mr. L.S,

I thought you teleported yourself to Alaska

and vanished from the forum!! :)

Nice to see you back Sir.

I am all ears to :ear: your reply.

I am trying to get more information from the books. Two pieces I have read, but I ould't get the reference immediately. It is also about Krishna. One person reported seeing Krishna in one place and others at different places. It is in Bhagavatha or RK Paramahamsa stories.

First of all, miracles are for believers only. But I agree that there should not be any discrepancy or contradiction in one single piece of writing. The definition of telekinesis or teleportation are very recently coined. The meaning keeps extending as and when new things are reported. Just because one Uri Geller bending a spoon or another person lifting a chair in the vicinity is not the end of all. The Greek word Tele is used in telephone, television,telepathy,teleportation,telekinesis... to mention a few have different shades or grades of 'tele'. So you don't need to stick to Wikipedia versions. A great saint or a god can visualize what you want and transfer it. Once gain it is for believers. No Bhagavatha or Krishna story will have words such as teleport, telekinesis. The devotees believed whatever said in he scriptures. I interprete them as teleporting or telekinesis.

Read the following bit widely circulated among Baba devotees:

Sathya Sai Baba sends an Australian home by teleportation!

Baba sends an Australian back home - through His interview room!

A group of six devotees had come to have darshan of Baba from Australia . Baba called them for a private interview.

During the normal course of the talk, Baba looked at one of the devotees and asked -- “Why did you come now. Your mother is not well. She needs you there back in Australia” .

He replied saying-- “Yes Baba, I called home yesterday night and this news was conveyed to me. I pray for her early recovery.”

Baba replied --

“Go home soon. She is asking for you. In fact go home now.”

So saying, Baba created a map of the world with the wave of the hand. He spread it on the wall and the following conversation took place : --

BABA : “Where is Australia in this map ?”

Devotee : “Here, Baba .” (Pointing to the map).

Baba touched it and the world map changed into an Australian map.

BABA : “Where in Australia do you say ?”

Devotee : “New South Wales, Baba .” (pointing to the map).

Baba touched it and the Australian map changed into the map of New South Wales.

BABA : “Where in New South Wales do you say ?”

When the devotee mentioned the place, Baba touched it and the chart changed to show all the apartments in the area.

Then Baba touched the house in which the man was staying and lo! the wall of the interview room became the door of the devotee’s home. Baba opened the door and showed the man his mother sleeping on the sofa. Baba called the man and asked him to go in and closed the door. He rubbed his hands on the door and the door became the wall of the interview room again!

Later when the Australians came out of the interview room, only five came out instead of the six who went in. The students of Prashanthi Nilayam campus saw this. Later they called back the man who was sent to Australia only an hour later, who confirmed his ‘safe arrival’.

Baba said that ---

“Time and space exist only in the worldly plane. In the divine plane there is no time and space. I can easily cross time and space as and when I want to.

Definition of telekinesis:

The movement of objects by scientifically inexplicable means, as by the exercise of an occult power.
1. the movement of a body caused by thought or willpower without the application of a physical force
2. the ability to cause such movement
telekinetic [ˌtɛlɪkɪˈnɛtɪk -kaɪ-] adj

Krishna fighting seven bulls to marry Sathyabama:

Seven krishnas fighting at one place or seven different places or on seven different days can happen in the divine world. No time space barrier exist there (for believers).

மாடு, கன்றுகளும் போனவைகளே;

But this mayajaal is NEITHER telekinesis NOR Teleportation.
