Can anyone translate it in Tamil, preferably in verse or can anyone give equivalent proverb in Tamil:

May be Tirumular's Tirumanthiram has something like this (thannai arinthavan--------).

HE WHO KNOWS NOT AND KNOWS NOT HE KNOWS NOT, HE IS A FOOL-SHUN HIM

HE WHO KNOWS NOT AND KNOWS NOT HE KNOWS NOT HE IS SIMPLE-TEACH HIM

HE WHO KNOWS AND KNOWS NOT HE KNOWS HE IS ASLEEP-WAKE HIM

HE WHO KNOWS AND KNOWS HE KNOWS HE IS WISE-FOLLOW HIM

Beautiful translation. You sound like modern TIRUMULAR.
Thanks. I have been using the English proverb for the past forty years.
Someone gave it to me during school days in Madurai.
I think the original English is an Arabic proverb.
Here afterwards I will use the Tamil and English together.

I love Thirumoolar's works.
I have read two out of the three volumes of his work.
For reading the third one I am unable to allot time now
The English version is translation of an Arabic proverb.
My father used to quote it very often .
I always loved the way he said it - as if it were a poem or a song!
May I know what you teach, to whom and where?

Mark Tully, BBC Delhi correspondent wrote a book titled In' India there is no full stop'.
When someone asks about me I never miss that golden opportunity to boast about me. I was a Senior Sub Editor in Dinamani, Madurai for 16 years.
BBC World Service recruited me to broadcast in Tamil for six years.
They invited me to London 25 years ago.
After the short term contract with BBC Thamizosai I took the part time tutor post at the University of London. Now I teach Tamil at the university. I am in charge of Cambridge University Tamil examinations as well. My primary interests are Tamil Literature,Sanskrit literature, Indus Valley civillisation and old coins and stamps.

I run four cultural organisations in London. I have written three books in Tamil.
Now I am planning to bring out a book in English with my 45 research papers.
My articles The Wonder that is Meenakshi Temple and the Three Apples that changed the World were read by more than thousand people each!

If you ask me one more question I will forget the full stop!!!

I never thought of it or never tried kavithai

I submitted a paper for World Tamil Conference in Malaysia under the title Translation problems in Tamil News Papers.

At the World Tamil conference in Tanjore I submitted two papers
Colour in Tamil literature
Number in Tamil Literature

For the Coimbatore World Tamil conference I sent the synopsis, but I did not attend it. The title of my paper was
The origin and development of Temple Vahanas ( I registered myself for Ph.D for this research but did not pursue. All my time was spent in organising events like Bombay Jayashree,Vishaka Hari, Velukkudi Krishnan, Swami Omkarananda, Swami Sukabodhananda and other artistes and speakers.Now I am resigning all the sabhas from one by one.

I will upload the research papers on to our site.But these are heavy subjects which may not be of interest to Tamilbrahmins.com readers.

We can read, understand and assimilate - but only in
