To me it was quite unwarranted for.

IPL 5 has got the lowest trp ratings, so it could be an ploy to use SRK's popularity to pull in more people and keep IPL in the news again.

If the assault charge is true, the assaulted will get a sizeable sum not to pursue the complaint.

SRK is getting lot of tv time; how IPL will benefit, I am not sure.

Two days ago, son of BCCI chief Srinivasan was in a similar spot in mumbai. When the restaurant refused to serve drinks after 1:30 am and asked him to settle the bill of rs. 28,000, he assaulted the staff and a policeman.

It is difficult to get a conviction in such cases because the witnesses will do multiple somersaults. The prosecution and the defence work together to fool all.
