Sri Parthasarathy Swamy temple in Chennai traces its origin back to the 8th century. Sri Parthasarathy Swami temple is situated in Triplicane, Chennai and is dedicated to Parthasarathy, Lord Vishnu. It was built in the eighth century by the Pallavas and later renovated by the Vijayanagar rulers.

There are five shrines for Vishnu in his various forms.

  4. Varadarajan seated on the Garuda facing east
  5. Narasimhar in a seated posture facing west.
Apart from these, there is a separate shrine for Andal. The annual Bhrammotsavam is celebrated in the month of Chittirai. Vaikuntha Ekadasi celebrated in Margazhi is one of the important festivals. The float festival is held in the month of Feb-Mar.
